Nothing surprises me any more.

But WTF is he doing being interviewed by al Jazeera in the first place?

al Jazeera is a viable news agency? Or a mouthpiece for al Qaida?

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his "foremost" mission as the head of America's space exploration agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world.

Though international diplomacy would seem well outside NASA's orbit, Bolden said in an interview with Al Jazeera that strengthening those ties was among the top tasks President Obama assigned him. He said better interaction with the Muslim world would ultimately advance space travel.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/05/nasa-chief-frontier-better-relations-muslims/

I have almost no words for this except...what the hell? Why is our SPACE AGENCY being told by our Community Organizer & Chief to improve relations with Muslims. This just makes no sense what so ever! I'm at a loss right now, I really am. I thought about putting this in the DUmping Ground. This is asinine.

And why in the blue hell is Bolden doing interviews with Al Jazeera? Sedition? Treason?

EDIT: I'm sorry. I didn't see this had already been posted. My bad on this one. This isn't one of the subforums I follow very closely. :embarassed

I would hope and think that NASA's foremost mission would be to develop assets in space, on the moon or get men on Mars, NOT to appease the Muslims. Other than algebra, and that tie is tenuous at best, the Muslims have contributed little to modern society.

The former head of NASA on Tuesday described as "deeply flawed" the idea that the space exploration agency's priority should be outreach to Muslim countries, after current Administrator Charles Bolden made that assertion in an interview last month.

If Muslims were capable of building a rocket that worked, the first thing they would do is attach a bomb to it.

Great idea, NASA.

Every day Obama is in office, they get closer, and closer. To the absolute horror of everyone else. I really, really, REALLY dislike Obama being so diplomatic to people who want to kill us. Scares the daylights out of me, actually.

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his "foremost" mission as the head of America's space exploration agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world.

The thundering stupidity involved in the head of our most prestigious and important aerospace research agency letting these words sneak across his brain, let alone escape his lips, simply beggars description.

Appalling.  Simply appalling.

Appalling! :censored:

We should already have nuclear thermal rockets (the uranium and/or plutonium never exits the spacecraft and serves only to heat the reaction mass to give it the necessary exhaust velocity) making 2-3 month trips to mars and a permanent base on the moon by now, but Lörd Zerö seems to have done worse than just kill the space program. He PC-ified it. I hope private space efforts pick up where NASA left off.

Privatizing space exploration was suggested by Teh Won, himself.  And just an FYI, it would be much cheaper to just spray paint in really big letters, "Drink Coke" directly on the moon's surface, than to have a blinking sign in front of it..

Don't they have neon paint these days. It's probably more expensive, but still cheaper than privatizing the space program.

Actually, if profit can be made, the exploration of space would take off. I don't have a problem with mining on some God foresaken asteroid, or planet for that matter.

Yeah what could go wrong with this scenario.?

So you have a fortune inhereted from dear old dad.  You like the idea of space mining for minerals.

Put yourself in this position, just how far would you go to have everything you ever wanted.?

First thing I would think would be is to call in all debts to politions and those in government.

Space is now up for grabs so you need to get anyway you can people to get you out there.

Where are you going to get the people to willing go off planet.   All the experts will be earth bound as they are to valuable to risk danger.

Mining on any planet including Earth takes allot of man power, most of the man power is done by those with no skill, they are the mules of the industry.

Where to get the Mules to do do the dirty work,   why not get a few laws changed and send up the men and woman on death row.?----They are given a choice death or going off planet to work.

As more and more workers die, the offer goes to those with long time sentences, and down to petty offences.

Interesting as anyone charged with an offence that is young and healthy is soon sent off to slave labor to work and die for some company that has the pull to somewhere make big gains for their share holders.

Hey, we're junking the space shuttles, right? Why let them go to waste. We load'em down with hog fat and out of date nukes that would still work and launch them over to the muslims....put bumper stickers on'em "THIS SCUDS FOR YOU".

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948
