Rangel Charged with Ethics Violations (UPDATED)

Rep. Charles Rangel, the most powerful tax-writing lawmaker in Congress and a 40-year veteran of Capitol Hill, acknowledged Thursday that an ethics panel has accused him of accepting corporate money for Caribbean trips in violation of House rules.

The panel exonerated five other members of the Congressional Black Caucus who also were on the 2007 and 2008 trips to Antigua and St. Martin but told them they will have to pay for the trips.

The ethics panel also ended another widespread investigation Thursday, saying if found no violations of House rules by six lawmakers who steered government money and projects and contracts to favored companies that had donated to their re-election campaigns.

Why is it if a Republican does something they are tarred and feathered but if a Dimrat does the same they are allowed a get out of jail free card?

That stinkin' criminal will have to be cuffed and frog marched off to the pokey before he relinquishes his power on the House Ways and Means! Un-****ing-believable the extent these guys will go to hold on to their power. They sure as hell don't work "for the people"!

Honestly the ethics violations are the tip of the iceburg.  We are in a huge recession because of Mr. Rangel demanding banks make loans to people who cannot pay them back.  When the congressional oversight folks tried to warn him and his committee he shot the messenger down.  As a result millions are out of work because of him pushing some stupid social agenda and getting paid off to do it.

I just hope someday historians find the courage to tell the truth about what caused our now greater depression. 

My wife said today now that Kennedy is gone Rangel should be the new poster boy for term limits.....

A House investigative committee on Thursday charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel with multiple ethics violations, a blow to the former Ways and Means chairman and an election-year headache for Democrats.

The committee did not immediately specify the charges against the Democrat, who has served in the House for some 40 years and is fourth in House seniority. The announcement by a four-member panel of the House ethics committee sends the case to a House trial, where a separate eight-member panel of Republicans and Democrats will decide whether the violations can be proved by clear and convincing evidence.
