Asked why Abdulmutallab should cooperate given his right, as criminal defendant, to remain silent, Brennan replied: "He doesn't have to but he knows there are certain things that are on the table... if he wants to engage with us in a productive manner, there are ways he can do that."

Asked if Abdulmutallab's willingness to talk changed once he had an attorney, Brennan declined to answer. "I'm not going to address what he did before or after he talked with a lawyer," the adviser said.  ...

Offer him a deal. Soak him for all the info you can, then put a gun to his head and shoot him, then air the videotape on the networks with a voiceover saying "Who wants to be next?".

In other words, "Yes."  I saw that film clip, that was one f**king pathetic answer.

What's the incentive for him to make a deal?  No way our courts would give him death, and any other sentence is just a great opportunity for him to go into a system chock full of American Black Muslims who will welcome him as a brother and whom he can try to proselytize into jihad.  Without a death sentence being on the table (And since nobody was actually killed, it isn't) the Government has no real leverage here.
