Tried some in Florida on draught. It was okay.

Summer's coming, time for the "fruity" beers.  Some are God-awful, some are pretty damned good...

In no particular order:

Pete's Strawberry Blonde
Sam's Summer Ale
Sam's Cherry Wheat
Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat
UFO Raspberry Hefeweizen

Summer Ale is very nice.

Tried Bud light Golden Wheat a few weeks ago - not a fan. At all.

Me either--and that's saying something, considering my "usual" beer when working in the yard, killing mammals on the grill, etc., is Bud Light.

Yeah, that might have been part of it. Draught beers are usually too carbonated. Come to think of it, beer wasn't that cold when served. The kegs probably weren't cold enough.

Not a fan of Bud in any form....but if any of y'all like a fruity beer, try the Abita Strawberry Harvest.  Lord have mercy.  It isn't all that fruity, and it is the shizzle.  For real.

I bought the only case at my local beer place.

This summer I have been stuck on a Spaten Lager kick.  (not Optimator).  The beer store has it on sale for 11.99 a 12 pack, and that has been continuous since May.

Spaten's a good Munich beer (assuming we're talking German and not some American micro-brewery by the same name). I was surprised to discover that the famous German "Reinheitsgebot" (purity law) on beer was repealed a few years ago. (It was hurting business, apparently, and served as a form of trade protectionism which wasn't looked upon favorably in an EU-based Europe.)

Used to be only water, barley, and hops were the only ingredients permitted. Now, I read in Wiki that most commercial beer makers add yeast as well and even wheat malt and cane sugar can be added as well.

Damn. That law dated from 1516.

Somethings should remain the same.  I hear Belgium beers are still brewed the same.  Anheuser-Busch is the debil.

Anybody that uses rice to create beer when other, better things are available should be keelhauled......

My recent favorite is Flying Dog's Raging Bitch Ale. It's a Belgian style pale ale.

Samuel Smith's Organically Produced Lager

A very hoppy initial drink with a rich flavored mid-drink and bitter finish for a lager, in contrast with American lagers. Kinda disappointed with this one from what I know of their ales and stouts.

There are a couple of Vermont microbrews I can pass judgment on:

Otter Creek: I tried the Summer Ale this summer, won't be buying that again. Kind of bland.

Long Trail: I have tried Long Trail Ale and their IPA (India Pale Ale), both are excellent, rich and hoppy.

Paulaner Wiesn Blonde

Finally got my mitts on this rare gem. A very heady pour with rich hop notes, a sweet mid-drink and surprisingly heavy. The finish is real sharp.

Very nice beer. Needs to be made available outside of Paulaner's Oktoberfest tent more often in these 1 liter cans.

Overall score: 9.5

I grew up on the Canadian border (MAINE).  We drank Moosehead when we were short of money.  It was the beer of last resort.  Preferred Olie.

Which explains why you were banned, you asshat.  Moosehead was popular among college frat boys for about 10 seconds in the 1980's and tasted like rancid skunk piss.

You supposedly come from Maine and never had ANY decent beer?  For that alone you should be banned from the Innerwebz forever.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale.  I highly recommend it to all, while it's still available.  Failing that, any Shipyard brew will work.

Real Ale Brewing Company   http://realalebrewing.com/beer_styles.php

A up and coming Texas Brewery.  Odin, make sure to look for some when you are on the proper side of the Red River.   :-)

I haven't tried nearly all, but the Full Moon Rye, and the Firemans #4 are very good.  They aren't heavy, and still manage to be very, very tasty.

I am keeping my eyes peeled for some of their seasonal selections coming up.
