Al-Qaeda Sleeper Agent In Marion Federal Prison

November 15, 2009 by Homeland Security NTARC News

KFVS reports a man the U.S. government considers a terrorist with ties to Al-Qaeda is now being held at the Marion, Illinois federal prison. Ali Al-Marri, 43, is serving an eight year sentence for being a so called “sleeper agent.” He has admitted to training in Al-Qaeda camps and having contact with the alleged planner of the September 11th attacks.

Another one of the taxpayers' money pits. At least he's in prison.

IIRC, Marion was once considered the most secure of the Federal pens--before Florence CO was built . . .

I used to drive by the Marion, IL prison (it's located just off I-57) on my way to Tennessee every couple of weeks or so.

At the time, the only criminal that I knew of that was doing time there was John Gotti, the "Teflon Don." He died there.  :evillaugh:

It's an imposing place - lit up at night like it's daytime. Smallish, not too big.

Maybe the cells are 6x6x8 - just large enough to sit up on your cot.  :p
