Major Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a "spiritual adviser" to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001.

Hasan, the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US soldiers in Texas, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt. His mother's funeral was held there in May that year.

The preacher at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting in London by video link in August because he is accused of supporting attacks on British troops and backing terrorist organisations.

Hasan's eyes "lit up" when he mentioned his deep respect for al-Awlaki's teachings, according to a fellow Muslim officer at the Fort Hood base in Texas, the scene of Thursday's horrific shooting spree.

The link is tenuous at best. While I DO consider Hasan an Islamic terrorist, it's a leap to connect him to other Islamic terrorists right now. Of course, even IF ties to terrorism are found, we'll be told otherwise.

That's because they're IGNORANT.  Calling a spade a spade originates from the early Roman times. We're talking shovels here, people. I got caught up in this argument while I was USN. Of course, it was alleged that I was a racist because I used that adage. Unsurprisingly, it was some black non-rated airman that made the accusation. (E-3 or below that has not been through a Navy school)

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

One senior lawmaker said the CIA had, so far, refused to brief the intelligence committees on what, if any, knowledge they had about Hasan's efforts.

Investigators want to know if Hasan maintained contact with a radical mosque leader from Virginia, , who now lives in Yemen and runs a web site that promotes jihad around the world against the U.S.

The Associated Press reported Sunday that Major Hasan attended the Falls Church mosque when Awlaki was there.

The Telegraph of London reported that Awlaki had made contact with two of the 9/11 hijackers when he was in San Diego.

It seems like only yesterday (ok, perhaps it was the day before) I was perusing a thread at the dump where a pair of poorly armed dummies were engaged in a wordy battle of wit.  At some point the one accused the other of being the type person to use the word "niggardly" in polite conversation. This same dummy, earlier in the thread, had itself used the pejorative phrase 'them people'.  (The irony was delicious although largely unnoticed or at least uncommented upon by anyone on the thread)

It is both amazing and entertaining to read what those cunning liberal linguists are capable.  If only they knew how their immortal words are viewed when read by others.   :whatever:
