Police Paying for their WORK GUNS??

I thought these were publicly-funded. Apparently not in Madison, WI. Interesting debate in Liberal-ville:

Varies quite a bit with the department.  Some issue a particular model, some pay an initial allowance to buy one, usually with at least a caliber specified if not the model.  Some itty-bitty departments out around where I live probably just expect you bring one from home.

I believe that OKCPD does both. They'll either issue you a Glock 19 or they'll give you an allowance ($450, I think) for a pistol.
