Sonia Sotomayor explains her "wise Latina" remark
« on: June 02, 2009, 02:16:56 PM »
Quote
POLITICO (Washington) -- Judge Sonia Sotomayor attempted to clarify her controversial remark Tuesday that a "wise Latina woman" could reach a "better" decision than a white male, telling Judiciary Chairman Pat Leahy that "ultimately" and "completely" a judge should follow the law.

Leahy, who met privately with Sotomayor on Tuesday, said he usually doesn't discuss what was said in private meetings with Supreme Court nominees.

But given the attacks that have been launched because of her remarks, Sotomayor gave Leahy clearance to give her response to the public.

Sotomayor told Leahy that what she meant is that people have different backgrounds but "there is only one law," and "ultimately and completely" she would follow the law.

Leahy didn't clarify whether Sotomayor acknowledged misspeaking, as even President Barack Obama has. Leahy said Sotomayor talked about her judicial philosophy, which can be guided by experiences but at the end of the day it comes down to rule of law.

Damn, these dimrats love to try and rewrite history.  She isn't explaining her racist remarks, she's back-pedaling like so many politicians before her have done.

Pardon my racist overtones here, but Sotomayor looks like a Castilian Puerto Rican, or , rather fair as they say.  That said, one wonders if her ancestors were not the Conquistadors, responsible for most of the great atrocities which happened in the New World.  Now that would be Racist.   :rotf:

She's right, you know.  I cannot possibly know what it's like to:

Wear a black bra and a white tank top.
Have my eyebrows tattooed with a look of permanent surprise.
Develop "ghetto hips".

I feel so worthless for not knowing these things.

I tire from the left making up excuses for this bimbo that is racist and wants to legislate from the bench.

Why Obama Voted Against Roberts

In Obama's own words John Roberts was well qualified, but he let personal feelings guide him in voting against him.  From what I've read about Sotomayor, she lets her emotions have precedence over the law in cases regarding race. That is sufficient reason to disqualify her.

I would think any individual with half a brain would figure out that since she's been overturned by the Supreme's 60% of the time, it it would automatically disqualify her. After all, if as she says when it comes down to it, she follows the law, then why does she keep getting it WRONG 60% of the time?

Hi Folks,

I see this quite differently.  And I might add it pisses me off big time.

What she has done is what the libs do all the time because no one in the mainstream media calls them on it.  She is lying through her teeth, giving the democrats cover to vote for her......and they know full well she will do whatever the hell she pleases once she is on the supreme court.

They all know she is a racist who is totally unqualified as a judge, and not very smart to boot.  They also know she is a activist who puts the social, if not communist, agenda above the law and they are looking for some excuse to vote for her and will mock total shock and surprise when she issues her first ruling.

Seems to me the libs and the liberal media really do not give a damn about our country anymore, about the law and constitution.  It is push their socialist agenda and the hell with the rest of us.

pathetic!
