Todays letter to the editor
« on: May 10, 2009, 02:06:03 PM »
Dear Editor,

In Sunday's paper you choose to publish a cartoon of the president presenting a tax bill to an offshore investor on "Tax Haven Island".  Unfortunately our president and treasury secretary have spewed this rhetoric and want to issue regulations which are frightening.  Under American law one is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  What the adminsitration wants to do is allow the IRS to pursue people who invest offshore and they are presumed GUILTY unless they can prove their innocence.

Well then if that is the case, why is the media not applying the same principal to the fact that the president will not produce his birth records?  Investigative reporters who try to look into the matter are threatened, his college application records are tightly sealed and repeated attempts to have them examined have been denied.  Using the same principle, if he is innocent why does the president have a crack legal team fighting every request in the court system tooth and nail?  Perhaps the media might ask why he would not release this information if he had nothing to hide.  I guess if one is a liberal democrat they can have it both ways???

SHAZAM!

I doubt it will see any time in print other than here.  But I sure agree with every word of it.
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." --Norman Thomas, 1944

Hi Rich,

I got a call from the paper yesterday afternoon.  They wanted to be sure I wrote it and they said they wanted to get it in the paper.

I will believe it when I see it.

regards,
