An honest question to those who defend gays not being allowed to give blood
 I am an organ donor. I was in Ohio and am again in NC. Not once was I asked if I had sex with a male last week let alone since 1977. So I have a simple question. If having sex with males makes my blood unsafe, why doesn't it make my organs similarly unsafe?

 Gays can give blood. No one has to tell the truth to the questions they ask. You aren't under oath. They ask the questions as a screening process. The blood is tested but given the amount of blood tested it is not 100% perfect. I travel frequently out of the country. If I told the truth about travels I would not be allowed to give blood. I do not tell the truth. If you want to make a political point (in your own mind) and not give blood, fine. But you are costing someone their life or health to make a petty point. Hope you feel good about yourself. 

This guy should be hung upside down and his throat slit and drained like a pig.

I think the entire population has a problem with that.  It's also possible to spend 20 years behind bars for knowingly tainting the blood supply.  And *YES* it can be traced back to you.

Keep him away from any hospitals I might need blood from.  How arrogant does a person have to be to believe that their blood is so special and significant that a blood donation center must accept it.  If he really cared that much about blood donations, he could sponsor a blood drive, volunteer at a blood drive, encourage everybody he knows to give blood, and provide a much more significant amount of blood that his little, political, pint.

Holy cow!  Do they even bother to look at statistics?  Why do they think it's only AIDS?  There are all sorts of nasties that homosexuals and druggies are more exposed to than non illicit drug using heterosexuals, probably some we don't even know about yet.

Hey DUmmies, AIDS is still a confined disease.  Don't engage in certain activities and your chances of catching it approach nil.  Engage in those activities and your chances increase by orders of magnitude.  The Public health authorities are still allowed to recognize this, which is why the pole smokers can't give blood.

A lot of places nowadays let you donate blood to yourself prior to a scheduled surgery, specifically so that you don't run the risk of catching social deseases from scumbags like these DUmbasses.

What Jendf and BC need to avoid like the plague are the unexpected things - like traffic accidents, bar fights, drive-by shootings...

I lost a friend to HIV due to contaminated blood.

This pisses me off.

He was kicked out of the private school I graduated from due to false fears, and was the first student in Illinois to attend a public High School while HIV positive. RIP, Jeff Proctor

He opened the door for the acceptence of innocent HIV victums in high schools nation wide. He had a brave fight.
