Bunnies have a reputation for being highly skeptical and somewhat cynical (Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, Episode #58: Iwwascible Wabbits) so I took 90 seconds to do some searching...

Water heaters starting at around $550: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Navigation?distance_1=100&reload=true&jspStoreDir=hdus&zip=80631&storeZip=80634&storeState=CO&recordId=1515&catalogId=10053&mode=autoSelectAndSet&langId=-1&categoryID=502972&storeId=10051&showStores=false&storeCity=Greeley

6 Month Same as Cash Financing with purchases over $300 for those who qualify.

57. I was able to afford my home...

until a series of medical problems and my wife losing her job. We did not "overbuy", in fact we bought a cheap fixer-upper which we renovated ourselves and have been living here over 20 years, now we are struggling to make the payments.

If you've been living in your house for 20 years why haven't you paid it off yet?

I think there are 30 year mortgages out there.  It's possible they got one of those.  But if they've been dutiful on their payments for 20 years, the Bank is most likely going to cut them some slack right now.

Yes, I have a 30 year mortgage, but I don't actually plan on paying it for 30 years.  If you pay half your mortgage every two weeks you shave off years on your payment, or just paying a little extra each month towards principle.

I will own my house in 2 years -- total 16 years to pay it off.  I started with a 30 year, then after 8 years, refied into a 15 year and now have that paid off in 8.  I think I saved over $70K in interest.

I use the money I used to use for car payments to overpay on the Mortgage.  I would recommend it to anyone.

15. Oh boy
I have a lazy eye, flat feet, and hypertension. I'm a little over weight. I'm divorced. My job is shaky.

I haven't had any legal problems since I was in my 20s. That's the result of hard work and personal discipline, as is my credit history.

Try it some time. It beats the crap out of bringing successful people down so that everyone is "equal".

Wow, he's on his way to being a conservative. The mantra of the left IS to bring everyone down to make it "fair". It's not about building people up, it's about making everyone equally miserable.

As tempting as doing this would be. It would crush the economy of so many banks and companies you might as well say the world would look like a MAD MAX movie.

Why couldn't Congress request a clean sweep of everyone's credit reports?
Advertisements [?]If Congress is going to bail out all these financial instutions, why didn't it make it a requirement that all Americans' credit histories be swept clean? Finanical institutions and consumers all start over!

Everyone start anew!

Actually, the credit reporting corporations are so lax and unprofessional with their recording keeping and general business practices, I really wouldn't have a problem with it.

It would work well if every individual was giving the option to clear his file.  The "good guys" could leave themselves intact.  The "bad scores" could opt to start over with ZEROED-OUT credit.  Creditors could be told if they were inquiring about a credit file "reset to zero" by the individual.  Then the creditor could take a chance or not.

The credit reporting system in this country is a joke anyway.  And yes, I have good credit, but only because I stay on top of their stupidity.  I shouldn't have to do that.  There should be no errors.  Period.

I currently have a 30 year mortgage.

But if I had been paying my mortgage on time for that entire 20 years, I'd have an assload of equity.

If I fell on hard times, I'd refinance the home based on the balance of the orginal loan amount (before my credit score went to shit) and reduce my mortage payment by about 65% or more.

My husband lost his first job out of college.   It was at an Industrial Design firm.  We had just bought a house.  He worked THREE jobs (two part time and one full time crap jobs) to keep us afloat (I also worked at the time).  Then he found a job in Lake Havasu City (we lived in Phoenix at the time), so he lived in Lake Havasu and I stayed back in Phoenix to sell our house.  It took us about 4 months to sell our house.  I worked and had a one and a half year old and had to keep the house spic and span to sell.  It was not a fun time.

Then there was the time I had a stroke and was diagnosed with Takayasu's Arteritis.  I was in the hospital for a week (a few of those days in ICU) with NO insurance.  This was during the glorious days of Clinton (so was the job loss period).  It took us YEARS to pay off my medical expenses (we were also paying off my husband's college loans at the same time, which took us 10 years by the way).  We weren't "rich" by any means, in fact I had to take in several children (3 plus my own) to help pay the bills.  This was only a few months after I had my stroke.  I took all of the kids with me to my monthly doctor appointments because I had no other choice.  You do what you have to do.

We have built up our credit to 800 over a long period of time and it wasn't easy.  Everyone has a friggen sob story, the sooner you stop thinking of yourself as a victim your life wont seem so bleak. My husband works his ASS off to provide for our family. He had been with the same company for 15 years and had worked his way up to an "Evil Repuke VP".  He wasn't handed anything, he paid for his own college, he isn't working off the back of anyone.  He hasn't taken from you sad losers at DU, he has worked for everything we have today.  I am getting sick of all this crap, to the point that I am willing to do what it takes to get the ****ers you (DU'ers) voted for out of office.  It is people like you who have motivated me to get off my ass and do something about this crap.  "Screw You" you friggen losers.

Thanks Frank (and Carl).

Another note I want to add is that it took my husband over 7 months to find that new job in Lake Havasu, it wasn't just the 4 months that I was alone taking care of our son and trying to sell the house.  We lived in "limbo" for a long time even after he got the new job.  I also want to add that at his new job, if you wanted Thanksgiving or Christmas (or any other time) off WITH pay you were screwed.  He didn't pay any vacation or sick time, he also paid everyone under the table for overtime.  He was very "old school", the kind that would say "be lucky that you have a job, quit your bitchin".  DU'ers wouldn't last a week working at a place like that.  My husband in contrast LOVED that job and would rather be designing boats (that was his job in Lake Havasu) than what he is doing today.  Liberals are friggen pussies.
