Why couldn't Congress request a clean sweep of everyone's credit reports?
Advertisements [?]If Congress is going to bail out all these financial instutions, why didn't it make it a requirement that all Americans' credit histories be swept clean? Finanical institutions and consumers all start over!

Everyone start anew!

It seems that my taxes are going to bail out financial institutions who won't loan me $2,000 to replace my water heater...

I'm going to have to wear waders in my kitchen soon!

1. No thanks
I've spend over 30 years building up a good credit history and score.

You want to take that away from me? Not just no, **** no.

10. Congratulations on your perfect life!
Wow!!! No catastrophic health problems? No marital problems? No job loss? No legal problems?

You're awesome! They should make a TV show based on your life! Oh, wait...they already did..."Leave It to Beaver," "Father Knows Best," "The Donna Reed Show," "Ozzie and Harriet"... (Say, is your next-door neighbor named "Thorny," by chance?--"Hi, Slackmaster!," "Oh, ah...oh...Hi, Thorny")

I have a lazy eye, flat feet, and hypertension. I'm a little over weight. I'm divorced. My job is shaky.

I haven't had any legal problems since I was in my 20s. That's the result of hard work and personal discipline, as is my credit history.

Try it some time. It beats the crap out of bringing successful people down so that everyone is "equal".

Kansdem gets a nice beat down.  The rest is a debate on water tanks, or no water tanks.

26. To all of you who said, "no, thanks..."

My taxes went to the ****-up financial intuitions that gave you your "high credit scores." Tell me why this is fair...

Uhhhhh .... someone who can't get a loan for a $2,000 water heater (first I've NEVER seen the water heater that would cost $2k) can't say the taxes they pay are bailing out the financial institutions because THEY aren't paying ANY taxes.

99.999% guarantee you kansdem gets back more on their 'return' than it paid in.

That doesn't mean anything to the DUmmies.  If your a DUmmie, that means you automatically pay more taxes then anyone else alive.   :whatever:

Mia, you have to post in that thread and ask Kansdem how much in taxes it paid.  You have to do it.

The tankless water heaters can run $1500-2000.  I'd like to upgrade to a tankless one eventually.

She can't get a loan because she has a shitty credit score.  Obviously she's had problems in the past with paying back money she's borrowed, it's not surprising she can't get a loan now.  LOL

Probably wouldn't be to smart since it's been posted here.  Mods there can trace where the guests are coming from, so I've heard.  If they do their homework well they can come back here and see this and cover could be blown.

We have a few homes around here with those water heaters in them but ..... they are very, very expensive homes (for our area).  Most folks will go with the $600 - $800 water heater and that is installed by a plumber.  You can buy them for $400 and install them yourself.

Yeah, Kansdem is saying it wants to go tankless to save $200-$400/year.  Ok, lets say that is true and use the middle; $300/year savings.  It is willing to spend $1,600 more for the tankless (when it can't even pay its bills now) sooooo

It will only take 5 years and 4 months to start 'saving' money.

These folks are complete idiots.

47. Sure, meanwhile my kitchen is filling up with water...
First a trickle, now a little more constant.

But I'll start saving right now! I may need a snorkel to wash the dishes but I should have the dough in about a year...

Ok, it doesn't take a math wiz to figure out if you have a problem right now that you can fix for $400 you don't bitch because someone won't loan/give you $2,000 to make the problem go away.  You fix the problem for the $400 and move on.

I've heard the tankless only LAST about 5 years.

I hear that around here too because our water is so hard.  The lime deposits kill them pretty quickly.  I don't think they work well with the softeners either.

If this is true then Kansdem is truly, truly a dumbass if it thinks it is going to save money.

I would love to find out what brand of tankless heater the DUmpmonkey buys. I really hope it's a Rinnai Tankless Heater since they advertise on Rush Limbaugh's show! :fuelfire:

WHAT! ....and deprive the DUmmies of the drama, the soap oprea in their lives? Hell, it's all they live for.

They are all crisis junkies.

I love how their piss poor credit is always because of health issues.  When called on poor credit they love to throw out the; "I hope you never have to go through what I've gone through.  I'm glad your life is soooo perfect.  Hope you never have a health issue that screws you over".

It couldn't be because they are totally irresponsible.  Nope.  Never.

Hey, Kansdem.  I have been in 2 motorcycle accidents in the last 8 years.  Neither one of them my fault and I'm self employed so if I don't work I don't get paid a cent.  In both cases I was down about a month each.  I suffered; a broken neck, broken arm, split lip, level II separation of my right shoulder, 2 broken ribs and countless cuts and abrasions.  My credit score is in the high 700's and low 800's.  I hope you never have the misfortunes I have had but I hope you learn responsibility and the difference between a WANT and a NEED.

That is all.

Edited on Sat Feb-21-09 11:35 AM by dajoki
living paycheck to paycheck save anything. I am in the same boat as you, when I was 28 I was married(still am to the same woman) with two kids, a great job and good credit. Then one day in my late 40s everything fell apart, when I had an accident that left me disabled, and the medical problems started piling up. My wife lost her job, my youngest daughter got sick and had to move back home and we almost lost our home because the only income we had was my SSDI. All this happened in a period of about four years. My wife found a job after about three years and my daughter has recovered, but the damage has been done, financially, we will never get out of debt, we are threatened every month with a utility being shut off because our mortgage must come first.
