cuz nothing's more efficient than plowing a field with a vehicle that gets a quarter mile to the gallon of fuel, especially in fuel starved areas, or that tear up the ground simply by moving their massive weight.  tractors do neither of these things, which is one reason they are good for what they are used for.  this is why you don't have idiots make defense policy.

The ground pressure is actually very low, doc, even all up with a full combat load.  However, turning one, especially a tight turn, is not something that is easy on the landscape...

This is what he wrote: ‘This is the job for today’s radical - to fan the embers of hopelessness into a flame to fight. To say, ‘You cannot turn away - look at it - let us change it together!’ ‘Look at us. We are your children. Let us not abandon each other for then we are all lost. Together we can change it for what we want...it is a job first of bringing hope and doing what every organiser must do with all people, all classes, places and times - communicate the means or tactics whereby the people can feel that they have the power to do this and that and on

'Tactics must begin with the experience of the middle class, accepting their aversion to rudeness, vulgarity and conflict. Start them easy, don’t scare them off...Tactics such as stock proxies and others are waiting to be hurled into the attack...’

‘Change’ and ‘hope’: does that strike a chord with anyone? Just bear this in mind when you hear today’s soaring rhetoric as America’s 44th president is sworn in.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. it was, all in all, a terribly self conscious speech.  all those people wanted to do was chant "yes, we can!" a few dozen times, and then have a huge obamagasm.  but he wouldn't let them.  he wouldn't even take his obanties off.  and everyone went home with blue oballs.

seriously, that did look like a frustrated crowd.  I talked to people that were there;  the disappointment was pretty widespread.

funny you should mention the "yes we can" chant. My friend at work (who sat next to me in the conference room to watch this tragedy) said, "come on!! say it!! say "yes we can!!". Seriously. She was so disappointed.

and I'm guessing, but your friend is (or was) the type that would throw her bra at the drummer the rock concert, isn't she?  I am close to "WE's Grand Unifying Theory of the Motivation of the Obamites". :-)

We have had a National nervous breakdown. Now, we are about to pay the price for this breakdown. I hope before God that by next election, we will be well on our way to full recovery.

I'm thinking the price we are about to pay may well be a shock cure for a major portion of our breakdown.

Respectfully, I don't think we've yet had a national nervous breakdown.

That'll come later, when Obama and his administration drive America into the ground economically and also make us so insecure militarily and constitutionally that the terorists will get tired of deciding which target-of-opportunity to hit next.

But I do I think we witnessed the most massive mind-and-common-sense-suck-out  in history, save what occured in Nazi Germany when Hitler rose to power.

That price we'll pay?

It will be rough. And there will be casualities, whether physical, emotional or psychological. Of course, Obama, the Democrats, liberals and leftists, including the adversary/advocacy media, will blame George W. Bush and every other Republican and/or conservative who ever lived and does currently when bottom falls out.

We 57 million who did not vote for the empty-suited megalomaniac from the cesspool called the Chicago Political Machine will have to bear the sins of the 63 million who voted for that man.

Truly, may God have mercy on us.

1 week for the minor things....or by Monday morning....whichever comes first.

Well, I sort of think of the Obama domestic policiews as thus far sween as electro shock trweatment for those not totally "gone to the dark side". The REPUBLICANS, tho, piss me off. This entire freeking "Stimulus package" whill "invest" in "new green jobs" and the "American recovery" will do no such thing.
The bill is, astem to stern, a GIANT plastic wrapped meat counter serving of PORK. RONT TO BACK pork and still MORE PORK!

There are no perminantb jobs in it, the "green" jobs are at best an illusion, at worst a fraud, and the 3000 miles of new electrical "grid to no where" will not be useful for 20 years, if then. I draw your attention to the FACT that engineering drawing one has been drawn, much less a route determined, much less the application for permit number one completed. Not to mention FOE, Sierra Club, etc etc lawsuit filed. You'd bettwer believe all they await is a determination of any route anywhere and BINGO, 5 year minimum lawsuit.

This is thwe most stupid , regressine, no growth , flat earth , oinker of a bill to comwe down the pile since LBJ's insane "War on Poverty".

Graduated high school 1965. I remember well everything you mentioned.

Guess we just see things differently. But, then, I was a liberal-tending-to-leftist in those Watergate and Carter days.

But, yes, Watergate and what happened with Nixon shook the country. Yes, I do remember that trauma.

Carter I remember only for his failing attempts at government and what the interest rates on money were. Those and his execrable, inept, HUTA handling of the Iran Hostage Crisis.

To me that was more of a unmistakable national embarrassment than anything else. Still is. As is he.

CARTER'S WEEKLY POLICY CHANGES drove me nertz. His giving the CZ to Panama was as stupid as anything he ever did, the CHINESE, fercripsesake, now operate it! WTF!!!  Carter was utterly unprepared for the Iran/Iatola mess and the hostage taking.  He alowed mortgane rates, YES MORTGAGE RATES, to reach 21%, CD's were getting 18%.

Do you have any idea how SLOW the realestate market is at 21% mortgage rates. DEAD is an understatment. Then, there was his treatment of the military.....terrable.  He was an idiot.

As inept, clueless, and buffoon-like as Carter is (that hasn't changed since his first term as Prez became an ONLY term), I don't believe he's a stupid man.

If anything, he's a zealot. He's blinded by his "heart" which tells him that liberalism and "feel-goodism" are qualities that we should all embrace wholeheartedly.

After all, his policies have worked well for him, haven't they?

The Carter Center, by all accounts, does well. Where else can one "wage peace", fight disease, and build hope? It has a budget of $87 million. Not bad for a freakin' peanut farmer. The Habitat for Humanity thing that Carter is also rabid about gets an appropriation of $3.4 BILLION (and that's down from recent years).

The peanut farmer is into big money and does quite well for himself, though even as president he was less than ostentatious.

While Jimmy Carter is a zealot and utterly blind to anything but his own "heart", he's not an idiot. Since the American voter ousted him from office due to his unbelievable ineptitude as president, his continuing "work" for "social justice" and the rest of his "feel-good" agenda has gone on unabated.

Carter is misguided and a fool, but he's not stupid.

Carter may well be "book smart" but he lacks anything resembling common sense. And Obama's VERY close behind and trying hard to pass.

Actually, I believe that I've read somewhere that Jimmy had the highest IQ of any American president, since measurements began.......He's a nuclear engineer, and that is not an easy course of study......a hell of a lot more challenging than Harvard Law School.....

Which tells us that being a good POTUS is more about common sense than it is about educational credentials......which, ironically if you delete from Obama's resume, and you end up with.........nothing.......

I've heard or read the same about Carter. Maybe it's myth, maybe not, but I recall it was in the mid-170s.

Indeed, Carter was always too smart to be president, in many ways. If we're as unfortunate as I think we are, Obama will reprise Carter's failures, due to that same problem, among others, including Obama's megalomania and write-his-own-rules-on-the-fly mentality.

Modified to add...... Carter optained a generic Bachelor of Science degree in 1946.

Modified to add...... Carter optained a generic Bachelor of Science degree in 1946.

That B.S. from USNA was likely in engineering. Had to be.

Found this from the Web site for the Jimmy Carter Libary & Museum, under "Jimmay Carter's Naval Service":

16 OCT 1952 - 08 OCT 1953 -- Duty with US Atomic Energy Commission (Division of Reactor Development, Schenectady Operations Office) From 3 NOV 1952 to 1 MAR 1953 he served on temporary duty with Naval Reactors Branch, US Atomic Energy Commission, Washington, D.C. "assisting in the design and development of nuclear propulsion plants for naval vessels."

From 1 MAR 1953 to 8 OCT 1953 he was under instruction to become an engineering officer for a nuclear power plant. He also assisted in setting up on-the-job training for the enlisted men being instructed in nuclear propulsion for the USS Seawolf (SSN575).

9 OCT 1953 -- Honorably discharged at Headquarters, 3rd Naval District. Discharge was at Carter's request. Total service: 7 years, 4 months, 8 days

So, you're right: It appears he was not a nuclear engineer, in the degreed sense.

However, from a Jan. 2007 speech of his, he opened, "Having been educated in naval and nuclear engineering ..."

My Uncle was a degreed nuclear engineer at EB. Worked on the Nautelus and Seawolf power plant designs and construction. He never mentioned Carter...ever.
