THIS Is The New Tone?
« on: November 07, 2008, 04:02:10 PM »
Obama says in his first post-election press conference that he's spoken to all the former presidents — Carter, Bush, Clinton, as well as the current Bush — and, looser than he's been in months, dares a joke at the expense of the widow of the most recently deceased.
"I have spoken to all of them who are living," he says. "I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances," he says.

He was responding to a question, from the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet, about whether he'd spoken to all of the "living" former presidents.

He was apparently referring to the reports in the 1980s that Nancy Reagan consulted an astrologer while in the White House. Mary Todd Lincoln, however, reportedly held actual séances.

Awesome. May all those 'cowboy mentality' and "arrogance" insults all of you libtards flung at Bush come back to bite you in the ass.

I can think of no President ever that has ever made such an inappropriate comment - and at his first presser no less!

you only get one chance to make a first impression.

My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

Why do you think they are all happy he got elected?  It's been 9 years since they've had a U.S. President they could dupe.

no shit.  but Clinton was not THIS stupid.  have to go back to Carter for these depths and even HE was not this stupid.  the White House is no place to play the affirmative action game.

Obama Apologizes for ‘Seances’ Remark

Updated | 7:20 p.m. President-elect Barack Obama Obama called Mrs. Reagan tonight, reports our colleague Jeff Zeleny, who passed along this statement from the transition team:

“President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off-handed remark he made during today’s press conference. The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation,” said Stephanie Cutter, transition team spokeswoman.

One of the odder moments in President-elect Obama’s first news conference on Friday came when he was asked whether he had spoken to any “living ex-presidents” to prepare himself for the job.

“In terms of speaking to former presidents, I’ve spoken to all of them that are living,’’ Mr. Obama said, before zeroing in on that fact that he had been asked whether he had spoken to living people. “Obviously, President Clinton — I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any séances.’’

Mrs. Reagan was famous for consulting an astrologer, Joan Quigley, while in the White House. Ms. Quigley declined comment on the president-elect’s remarks, said her sister, Ruth, who added, “My sister is not a medium; she’s an astrologer.’’

Did you really mean braziers?

Or brassieres?

Those who see their lives as spoiled and wasted crave equality and fraternity more than they do freedom. If they clamor for freedom, it is but freedom to establish equality and uniformity. The passion for equality is partly a passion for anonymity: to be one thread of the many which make up a tunic; one thread not distinguishable from the others. No one can then point us out, measure us against others and expose our inferiority.

Pull up a stool and grab a pint. We're all going to be alcoholics by 2012.

Actually, I'll make everyone on here a deal.  Everytime Obama or one of his cabinet refers to a problem as something left over from the Bush administration, take a drink.  I guarantee we'll sober up sometime in 2013.
