Where are all the Blackberry owners?
« on: October 15, 2008, 06:51:30 PM »
I just got a new 8310 from my firm last week, prior to that I was using a Treo 650.  The Palm interface was more elegant but phone calls are so much more bearable with the Blackberry.  I find more and more things I like about the Blackberry every day.

The only thing I don't like is the mandatory firm "image" that has to be on it - it disables some features (like the GPS  :( )

So what do you have?  What do you like/dislike about it?

I love the 8310, only thing I dislike is the awkward menus to personalize and change settings

8100 Pearl.

It's like a mini computer in my pocket.  No GPS but I can use Google maps and local towers to get accuracy down to half a grid square (500 meters for the civilians) in most areas.  Google Maps has helped me as well with showing people I work with the lay out of places where our units are going to perform.

And then there's the internet access.

I love my 8310.  it isn't as good at pulling in a signal as, say, any of the 79XX's that I had,
but all things considered, it's a keeper.  I was hell on those trackwheels;  I invariably broke
the damn things in four or five months, and I am interested to see if the trackball holds up
any better than the wheel.

they google apps people finally have a google/blackberry calendar sync program that makes
my life infinitely easier.  that speak much more about the people at google than RIM, but it
is still super handy.

I still don't like the bberry as a phone as much as my RAZR, though.  i

I like the search feature of the address book type in the persons 1st or last name - or company to pull their number that is a big help and I've loaded all my work contacts into it - huge help while on the road.  Way better then anything motorola has now that I've used.

Not so well.  The contacts get dirty.  Think how the trak ball on your pre-laser mouse would get gunked up.

So I take it apart and clean it and it works for a few months.

But now some of the prongs on the chrome trim ring have broken and it wants to fall out.

I've already located a place that sells the replacements.

I'm on my second Treo 750....and I have another one to get all my info switched into. There have been glitches in them. Current one won't access internet properly for my email and randomly zaps out on phone calls. Verizon can't fix it so that it continually works.

I had a Blackberry for a week before I switched to the Treo....but I think I'm still going to switch. I need the bigger screen for internet, messages, maps, etc. Not sure what I will get.....but it's been really frustrating.
