Different colored licenses for DUI offenders?

My local rep (also a Rep) got his hat handed to him today on a state bill he was sponsoring that would make convicted drunk drivers have a different background color on their driver's license.

Yellow for one offense. Red for multiple. No convictions for 5 years, you can apply for a "normal" license.

How is this different than the proposed colors for vehicle plates? Any other states playing with this? And what the heck is it supposed to do?

6. Drunk driving kills more than guns and drugs combined.

What a silly statement you make.

2. They have colored plates (one color) in Ohio it is not automatic to get one, up to the judge. I think the cops can stop a DUI plated vehicle without normal probable cause.

3. I suppose that keeps friends from borrowing cars.

How is it "fair" to other family members, though? Sounds stupid.

That was my question too.

9. Yea, my friend is gonna get one.

He is a dumb**** though, and he deserves it. He was proud saying that when he gets his license back (and if he can ever afford a car) that he'll have special tags

8. Well nothing else seems to keep these jerks off the road

Maybe a little humiliation would go a long way. Got any alternative suggestions?

I dunno.

I have mixed feelings about the matter, but detect a whiff of hypocrisy in the primitives.  If the primitives think it's okay to "profile" potential drunken drivers, why isn't it okay to "profile" potential terrorists?

I think it's a good idea myself.

As to the "drunks, OK" and "terrorrists, Nuh-uh!" attitude regarding "profiling" at the DUmp:

Drunk = George W. Bush x BDS = OK to profile

Terrorist = Enemy of Bush x BDS =  Horrible fascist crime to profile!

You must not miss the DUmmie logic -

Drunk drivers unintentionally kill individuals while practicing their disease.  This is a tragedy and everyone involved is a victim.  Society must find a way to cope.

Terrorist have no interest in individuals and are out to kill a society.  This is not a tragedy because DUmmies and terrorist share this goal.  It is noble and just.  The targeted society must not find a way to cope because doing so hampers that which is noble and just.

in order to get the "party plates" as they are called you have to be a repeat offender several times over.

Why give them a special plate? Suspend their license for 10 years.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

suspensions only work if the individual abides by the suspension.

I understand that. Get caught driving on a suspended license, impound the vehicle, go to jail for 90 days. Work release if needed.

There is a solution to the problem. No one has the balls to address the issue.

Remember the guy from a few years back here who killed that woman and her child on I-75. I think he was driving to Traverse City with a blood alcohol 3 or 4 hours after the accident of .43 :o.I hope they buried him under the prison :censored:

Shame as a punishment is a valid prevention tool.

As a society, we seem to have lost the ability to feel shame.  I think it is a good idea to bring it back.

What if one is an illegal and a drunk driver?

How does DUmmy logic handle that?

"We are gonna win, win, win. We're going to win with military, we're going to win at the borders, we're going to win with trade, we're going to win at everything. And some of you are friends and you're going to call, and you're going to say, 'Mr. President, please, we can't take it anymore, we can't win anymore like this, Mr. President, you're driving us crazy, you're winning too much, please Mr. President, not so much, and I'm going to say I'm sorry, we're going to keep winning because we are going to make America great again."

Wouldn't one need a set of morals to be affected by shame? Viewing places like DU illustrates that shame alone won't work.

Yes, sadly shame is an outdated concept in DUmmieland. I prefer tattooing their foreheads but that's just me.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Sympathetic to pedophiles?  Check
Campaigning to release drug dealers from prison? Check

As someone who has had a DUI I agree. I figure I had to go through all the crap the state demanded of me when I got mine so should other people. Maybe like me they will finally learn not to drive drunk.
