Wisconsin voters approve amendment to ban preferential treatment based on race, sex at public colleges, universities

A ballot measure that bans public employers from giving preferential treatment based on race or sex was approved by Wisconsin voters in the Nov. 3 midterm election, with 56.5 percent of the vote.

The question had asked voters to decide whether to “ban public employers from giving preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin,” and was put forth by Republican state lawmakers in part to tackle diversity, equity and inclusion programs and policies in higher education.

The “Question 3” constitutional amendment covers public education, public employment, public contracting, and public administration. Both the University of Wisconsin System and Wisconsin Technical College System must follow the new law.

GOP lawmakers had used the constitutional amendment process “because they don’t require a sign off from Democratic Gov. Tony Evers. He has vetoed more bills than any other governor in state history, serving as a block on the agenda of Republicans who have strong majorities in the Legislature,” CBS News reported.

Arkansas Constitution's Right to Bear Arms Provision Strengthened

https://reason.com/volokh/2026/11/06/arkansas-constitutions-right-to-bear-arms-provision-strengthened/

Quote
The old provision dated back to 1868, and read, "The citizens of this State shall have the right to keep and bear arms, for their common defense." The new, which passed 71%-29%, will read:

(a) The citizens of this State shall have the right to keep and bear arms, for:
(1) Their common defense;
(2) Lawful hunting and recreational use; and
(3) Any other lawful purpose.
(b) The right to keep and bear arms under subsection (a) of this section includes without limitation the possession and use of:
(1) Ammunition;
(2) Firearm accessories; and
(3) Firearm components.
(c) The right to keep and bear arms under subsection (a) of this section is a natural, fundamental, and individual right that shall not be infringed.

I wish something like this could be done at the national level.
