US slapping fresh sanctions on ‘unaccountable’ International Criminal Court

WASHINGTON — The State Department will impose “further sanctions” on the International Criminal Court in response to its attempts to charge American service members, according to a US official and an internal memo reviewed by The Post.

The official said that diplomatic posts were receiving warnings Thursday that “further ICC action” was imminent, while the memo cited longstanding grievances with the global organization established in 2002.

“The ICC seeks to become the unaccountable global arbiter – positioning itself above and beyond the nation state as a supranational judicial arm of a globalist bureaucracy empowered to persecute American servicemen and officials at will without authority and as an affront to our sovereignty,” the memo stated.

“It must be clear, once and for all, that the ICC can pose no threat to those who did not accept its authority,” the memo added.

“Building on the U.S. campaign to assemble a coalition of countries willing to reject the Court’s assault on State sovereignty, the United States has no choice but to impose further sanctions.”

The sanctions are expected to take effect soon, though the memo did not disclose in what form.

Switzerland recently threatened to take Netanyahu captive if he entered the country. No great loss to him. I wonder whether Switzerland would be stupid enough to try to abduct US service members.

A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., has heard evidence concerning possible false statements former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson made to the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, Fox News Digital has learned.

Additional evidence could be presented to the grand jury as soon as next week, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The proceedings remain in the grand jury phase, and no final decisions have been made about whether the matter will result in criminal charges, the source said.

Fox News misspelled "shamvestigating".

San Francisco Slams the Door on Data Centers Despite Being Epicenter of AI Development

San Francisco’s board of supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to impose a 45-day moratorium on new data centers, a pause that can be extended up to 22 months. Despite San Francisco being the home of AI development in the United States, one city official said of data centers, “We need to know what these impacts are. Until we know what that is, it needs to stop.”

Bloomberg reports that the measure halts new projects while city planning officials study their effects on energy, water, air quality, land use and surrounding communities. A hearing on those findings is due by November, according to Mission Local, which reported on the vote.

“We need to know what these impacts are. Until we know what that is, it needs to stop,” Supervisor Shamann Walton said.

San Francisco is home to AI giants OpenAI and Anthropic, but the city doesn’t actually know how many data centers it already hosts. Bloomberg found no comprehensive tally. The San Francisco Standard counts six sites.

It would take more than 45 days to compile server and solid state drive array power use data and  power grid info from PG&E? This virtue-signal will drive jobs out of SF, and the jobs leaving won't be minimum wage jobs.

US imposes sanctions on International Criminal Court, hours after former judge wins Nobel

Oct 9 (Reuters) – US President Donald Trump’s administration imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court on Friday, hours after one of its former judges won the Nobel Peace Prize, putting Washington on a diplomatic collision course with European allies.

The ICC’s deputy prosecutor, Nazhat Shameem Khan, condemned the sanctions and said they would not halt the tribunal’s work.

The Trump administration has long been hostile to the court founded in 2002 to prosecute war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, and has previously imposed sanctions on its prosecutors and judges. Friday’s move would go far further, by potentially punishing companies that provide services to the court itself.

“President Trump will never allow the International Criminal Court to prosecute Americans,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement, first published by Reuters.

“That is why, today, the United States is sanctioning the International Criminal Court. We will ban transactions with this rogue court, cutting off their resources and crippling its ability to operate.”
...
Rubio said the sanctions had been structured to give the court and its member states an opportunity to address US concerns.

Washington immediately allowed some exemptions. Shortly after the sanctions were announced, the US Treasury issued four general licences, which would allow some transactions for ICC telecommunications, software and pension payments, and transactions linked to ICC detainees.

The ICC will abuse those exemptions, because they are saviors of the world from Jewish atrocities and US imperialism. Their messianic complex will justify anything they do.
