Today's deep legal question: Does Kevin Reddington even know how the law works?

Fresh off attempting to sic a mob onto a holdout juror last week, Reddington appeared on Good Morning America to discuss what comes next for his client, triple-murderer Lindsay Clancy. What Reddington hopes comes next will either be a plea deal for an insanity commitment or a pardon. He's clearly barking up the wrong tree here on the latter, and not just in the civics sense:

Reddington also said he hopes President Donald Trump would consider a pardon for his client.

"Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady and the person she is, what she's been through, and consider a pardon," Reddington said Tuesday in an interview on "Good Morning America."

Either Reddington is so blindingly dumb that he does not know Trump has no authority over this case or Reddington is continuing to "try" this case in the court of public opinion. I think the latter, but I think he's too dumb to realize that the "juty" in that "court" is less favorable to his client than was the jury in the mistrial.

“Over the past months, Patrick Clancy and his family have been subjected to a relentless, escalating, and destructive defamation campaign,” his lawyer Howard Cooper revealed when speaking with Boston 25 News. “This campaign of misinformation has been launched and promoted by minor celebrities, so-called influencers, and outright conspiracy theorists who appear intent on boosting their own social media profiles and potential profit by publishing what they know to be outright falsehoods that Patrick was somehow involved in the death of his young children and other vile claims.”

“This campaign, now fueled by insatiable media coverage, remains at a fever pitch and has resulted in real-life threats to his reputation, livelihood, and life,” Cooper said, referring to an increase in insanity after the mistrial. “Patrick has no choice but to address this situation – with the clear goal of stopping injurious behavior, creating accountability for lies that are self-serving to the perpetrators, and being able to return his attention to what matters: preserving the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy and supporting other women facing perinatal mental health challenges,” he said. Cooper warned of legal consequences, and I hope there are some for those issuing death threats.

The ex-husband of Lindsey Clancy, Patrick Clancy, is threatening through his lawyer to pursue legal action against "so-called influencers" who have accused him of the killings and claimed he framed Lindsey Clancy for them.

Patrick Clancy's attorney, Howard Cooper, said in a statement that the “relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign” has harmed his client's reputation and livelihood, the New York Times reported.
