Ok ok, suppose you had an uncle and, unlike most of the people in your family, he really was a dope: uninformed and didn’t care, maybe he played cards all day or watched entertainment programs on the tv machine, or sat around on the front porch watching the neighborhood goings-on. His job before his retirement involved the execution of routine tasks which simply a required a human to place block A in hole B, and he was perfectly happy to do so for 45 years.

Now let’s also suppose that he develops a dementia of some sort: fronto-temporal, Alzheimer’s, whatever. So the family takes appropriate measures to protect him and themselves from aberrant behavior which might cause a catastrophe in the home and things settle into a form of normalcy. Ok ok ok….

Now, when he makes certain needs known, does that family member walk into the kitchen and say to the family, “Uncle Max wants us to get ready for Catherine Zeta-Jones’ visit. She might be coming to see him with Tia Carrere so we are going to have to clean up the house and wash the cars.”

No, of course not. The family member walks into the kitchen half-giggling and saying that Max is REALLY getting seriously out-of-it and maybe institutionalization will be necessary soon. Because that’s how normal people respond to senile and/or deviant thoughts and behavior.

But with this orange fool in the White House, all these politicians and media folk would metaphorically start dusting the place and vacuuming. “Today the President demanded…”. Today the President stated that GNP would increase by 20% if…”. “Today the President said that he knows more about (any subject under the sun) than anyone…”
