"I have shocking news to report"

writes Ron Filipkowski on bluesky. "An hour in to the NATO summit and Trump has already made a complete ass of himself on the world stage again, trashing our closest allies for decades while praising Putin and Erdogan and ranting one lie after another."

And that's how the corporate media should be reporting trump's performance at this NATO summit. You know they would be if Biden had done an eighth of what trump is doing on the world stage.

Instead we get sanewashing language like "tensions are high" at the NATO summit. No, What's happening is a total %%##$$ show,
with trump saying he would take out a "restraining order" against one of the leaders a couple of days ago and devolving from there. I haven't even heard journalists calling out the lies.

And there seems to be complete silence about his ninety minute phone call with Putin on our nation's 250th birthday.

A Trump-Hater hates and lies about what Trump actually said? That’s almost as shockingly surprising as the Sun rising in the east this morning.

EuroLanders might not like being ass-kicked into having adequate defense forces, but dayum! They’ve been coasting on US capabilities, but when this year the US requested minimal assistance in trying to end the 47-year war with Iran, pertinent NATO countries said, “Pawk! Pawk! NOPE!” Trump dared ask, openly and directly, whether NATO countries would ever assist the US in anything. That’s what probably yanked Filipkowski’s tampon string.

The once mighty Royal Navy might or might not have one operational and deployable aircraft carrier, might have one or two operational and deployable nuclear submarine, and has one operational and deployed destroyer. The Army’s SAS (similar to USA Rangers) are getting gutted by ivory-tower lawyers prosecuting men for being “too” effective while under fire.

France might have one operational CBG. Germany has some destroyers and SSKs. Poland might be the most militarily prepared NATO country. Poland!!!
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

Poor US "allies".

They benefit from the protection of our military, both militarily and economically. They tariff us, their most important and powerful ally.

And yet, they get angry if we tariff them or tell them to increase defense spending.

Just to be clear the SAS is not similar to the Rangers, it is what Delta was modeled after. The Rangers are the bluntest instrument that JSOC has.

Thanks for the clarification. I mainly know they were formed in WW2 and are very BA.

This Power Line article has a more neutral/balanced perspective on discussions among European NATO members, https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2026/07/can-this-alliance-be-saved.php .

Yes, Euros hate Trump, but their “reasons” are problems of their own, decades-long, making. EuroLand rebuilt after WW2 at least partly with US $$$, under the umbrella of the US military (assisted some by the UK’s not yet gutted military). Various countries rebuilt their militaries, but the muscle against Soviet attack and much of the logistics were still largely the US military. Their capabilities were still significant, just not capable, taken together and without substantial US support, of stopping a Soviet invasion.

Some time in the 70s, EuroLander governments got lazy, letting their militaries decay to fund (being blunt) social programs. Among other effects, those social programs long-term weakened many citizen’s resolve to defend themselves (they grew to hate Uncle Sam, but relied on him being there). Then the USSR imploded, and the need for military strength seemed further lessened (and more money could go into social programs!).

EuroLanders’ gooberments know how much they own the current problematic situation, AND that their nations’ cultures will have to change if they want some meaningful self-defense capability. They should be (and might be) very thankful to Ukraine for hollowing out and gutting much of Russia’s military might. Putin dreams of restoring the Soviet empire, but much of his might has been reduced to scrap steel and aluminum and graves in cemeteries (even Putin might understand that tanks and planes are built much faster than the raising and training of a new generation to man that equipment).

I have shocking news to report. Graham Platner said something true:

"Accusations are supposed to be the beginning of things, not the end".

Are you listening, Democrats?
