senseandsensibility (25,932 posts)Michelle Obama has nothing to prove but she proved it anywayIMHO our former first lady is the best public speaker of the last few decades. She makes it seem easy and she is uplifting, relaxed and joyful while at the same time making her points clearly. Today it was obvious who much of that speech was directed at without ever saying his name or getting into the dirt with him. That's an artform.Her sheer talent and grace are why she is the object of so much vitriol from the right. It's why they just can't let go to the point that they are still publicly insulting her as they flail about in the shadow of her dignity. I'm sure I don't have to remind most of you of the disgusting smears the right has flung at her as recently as last weekend. But what else do they have to counteract her words and presence? Nothing.I know that I am not expressing anything that hasn't been said before. But her speech today was unbelievable. I had to tip my hat to it and express my thanks for her many years of service and what she has had to endure.
