DR Congo Denounces Ebola Travel Restrictions as ‘Discriminatory’

https://www.breitbart.com/africa/2026/06/05/dr-congo-denounces-ebola-travel-restrictions-as-discriminatory/

Quote
Roger Kamba, Minister of Public Health for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), complained on Friday that travel restrictions against his country due to the Ebola outbreak are “discriminatory” and cannot be justified by science or medicine.

The United States imposed travel restrictions in May, announcing that travelers from the DRC, Uganda, and South Sudan would not be allowed into the United States if they lack U.S. passports.

American passport holders, green card holders, and service members inbound from the Ebola outbreak region were required to “undergo enhanced public health screening” and were required to enter the U.S. at one of four airports equipped to conduct those tests, including Washington-Dulles, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, and JFK International in New York.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the travel ban would remain in place for at least 30 days, and could be extended if necessary.

Several other countries, including Canada and the Bahamas, have banned or restricted travel from the outbreak region. Some nations, like Thailand, will accept travelers from the DRC and neighboring countries, but require extensive quarantine periods for them.

Have Dems condemned Trump for racism and xenophobia yet? Like they, including LIEden, did in 2020 when Trump banned travel from China?
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

Platner Accuser Slams New York Times for Watering Down Her Abuse Story to Help His Campaign

The Times dropped a report on Thursday detailing allegations from several women Platner dated. They claimed the candidate engaged in misogynistic and physically intimidating behavior. Lyndsey Fifield, a Virginia-based Republican operative who previously dated the candidate, detailed an incident in which he allegedly twisted her arm behind her back and locked her in a room.

However, she said the report did not cover the enormity of what Platner allegedly did to her in their relationship. In a lengthy post on X, she went into more detail about his alleged abusive tendencies.

“Anyone who has ever extracted themselves from a relationship with a narcissistic abuser knows it isn’t clean or easy,” Fifield wrote. “I cringe remembering how many times I tried to play the ‘cool girl’ or fawn in response to what was clearly abusive, coercively controlling behavior by Graham.”
...
After seeing former Rep. Eric Swalwell’s downfall, she reversed course. She told them her story and even “let them take pictures of my diary pages.” She sent screenshots of her message exchanges with Platner.

“I explained very clearly that, like many women abused by their partners, I had not told anyone about his violence at the time—I had covered for and defended it. I accepted his earnest apologies. They said that’s fine because the diary entries and my on the record story was enough,” Fifield wrote.

The reporters connected her to other victims and she told them they were “doing the right thing” even though they had misgivings. Fifield also realized that Platner was in a relationship with one of the other victims while she was dating him.
...
The editors said these details were “too much” to include, according to Fifield. But the outlet also did not include the fact that she told her friends about her ordeal with Platner “long before he was running for office.”

Fifield further suggests that the Times sat on the story and stalled publication because they wanted a way to turn it into “a gift to the Platner campaign” by leaving out the more salacious details.

Accuser: NY Times Watered Down Story to Aid Platner

Lyndsey Fifield, whose allegations formed the centerpiece of a Times report published Thursday, said reporters "methodically delayed and twisted" her account and excluded allegations from other women, including claims of sexual assault.

In a series of posts on X, Fifield said she ignored warnings from friends and chose to trust Times reporters Lisa Lerer and Katie Glueck.

"They connected me to two of the other victims so we wouldn't feel so alone," Fifield wrote. "I insisted to each of them that I trusted the NYT journalists and that we were doing the right thing despite their ... sense that something was wrong."

According to Fifield, reporters repeatedly requested additional evidence and documentation before publication.

"They kept coming back to us saying the editors needed more," she wrote. "I met every benchmark they set, eager to provide more sources or evidence as needed."

But after the story was published, Fifield said she was stunned by what was left out.

"Where are the stories from the other women? Where are their accusations of sexual assault? Why am I the focus?" she wrote, questioning why the article devoted extensive attention to her work history while excluding evidence and corroborating sources she said were provided to reporters.
...
The Times article included accounts from three women who had relationships with Platner.

In addition to Fifield, former girlfriend Jenny Racicot was quoted as saying Platner "does not respect women," while a third woman, who was not identified, described herself as "collateral damage to the world that is his."

Hammond is just down I-90, across the state border from Chicago, so this is not like the Oakland Traitors moving to Las Vegas and the Oakland As moving to Sacramento (14K seats, not getting filled) while waiting for their new Las Vegas stadium to be built.
