On Monday afternoon, a man was shot by the Secret Service on the National Mall near the Washington Monument. There was eventually a press briefing by the Secret Service and we learned that the man had been spotted by a plain-clothes agent patrolling the outer perimeter of the White House. That agent had identified a gun and called in cars with uniformed secret service agents.

None of what happened was captured on video but allegedly the man with the gun saw he was being followed by cops and ran. He also pulled his weapon and fired at the Secret Service. They fired back and he was struck more than once. He was arrested and taken to a hospital. In the crossfire, a 15-year-old bystander was also hit but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Today we're learning a bit more from U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro about the suspect, including his name. Also, the shooter said some things in the ambulance on the way to the hospital that might be revealing.

"One of the things that he said on the way to the hospital was, 'F the White House,' and 'Kill me, kill me, kill me' -- three times," Pirro said in an exclusive interview with ABC News' Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas on Tuesday. "But he was very clear, 'F the White House.'"...

Pirro said she intends to charge the suspect, whom she identified as Michael Marx, with assault against a federal officer.

The 45-year-old suspect has a Texas driver's license and no obvious connection to Washington, and authorities are working to learn why he was in the city, according to multiple law enforcement sources.

In the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), with its United Teachers LA union, the apparent policy for dealing with despicable teacher or administrator sexual crimes against students is simply to reassign the offenders to new schools and new victims. No wonder the district has such a massive sexual misconduct problem.

The Department of Education (ED) is now investigating LAUSD after uncovering some profoundly disquieting rules from the district's union, UTLA, which explain how and why to reassign union members accused of sexual misconduct or outright pedophilic sex relationships and porn. Over the last year or so, LAUSD has had to borrow $750 million to settle sexual misconduct cases. The FBI raided LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho's home in February during the height of the controversy about the sexual misconduct scandal; Carvalho also reportedly came to the USA as an illegal alien.

Did you, an LAUSD teacher, distribute sex videos to students? Did you fail to report child abuse? Did you commit fraud or sexual harassment? Are you sleeping with a minor student? Are you facing felony charges? Did you create or sell child pornography? Don't worry, UTLA has a one-size-fits-all solution — no matter which one of those crimes you committed or anything in between, you're just getting reassigned to a different school and a different pool of potential victims. No job termination involved.

These are the same sort of union officials and educrats whose arguments against homeschooling is that abusers - physical and sexual - are shielded from detection and consequences. Accountability for thee but not for me.

The embarrassingly awful Democrat mayor of Charlotte, N.C., has abruptly announced she is resigning halfway through her term. The move raises speculation as to why. After all, up until now, none of her failures or potentially illegal actions have embarrassed her to the point of resignation.

"Serving as Charlotte's mayor has been the honor of my life," Lyle announced on Thursday, reports WCNC Charlotte. "Now, it is time for the next phase of my life, to spend more time with my grandchildren and for someone new to lead us forward."

Perhaps Lyles’s most shameful moment was her reaction to the murder of young Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on the Charlotte Area Transit System subway. Serial criminal Decarlos Brown randomly stabbed Iryna to death and then, based on surveillance footage, gloated to himself repeatedly, “Got the white girl.” Lyles did not even mention Iryna‘s name in her statement after the murder, nor did she condemn the brutal crime. Instead, she fixated on building up a sob story over the murderer.

KNSD reported Wednesday that a Disney cruise docked in San Diego after a trip with stops in Ensenada, Baja California, as well as Catalina Island, where federal agents took several employees into custody.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Sandra Grisolia released a statement about the raid:

“On April 28, HSI San Diego arrested twenty-three crewmembers from multiple cruise ships at the Port of San Diego as part of Operation Tidal Wave. The arrests targeted individuals suspected of involvement with Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), based on information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.”

The New York Post clarified that it’s unclear which other ships from companies outside of Disney may have been involved.

Per the New York Post, U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated of those individuals, “Officers confirmed all subjects were involved in either the receipt, possession, transportation, distribution, or viewing of CSEM or child pornography.”

CSEM stands for “child sexual exploitation material.”

Disney needs to do a lot more vetting when hiring their crew members. Parents are likely mortified to know these monsters were lurking around their children.

On one hand, there is some hostility wrt Disney among conservatives, but Disney cruises do feature play areas and children's activities for families with children. While every cruise company should have vetted their employees better, IMO, Disney should have been very careful of pedophiles trying to infiltrate their crews (just as pedos sought to and did infiltrate churches' children's ministries).

Brian Krassenstein has spent years as one of the left's most reliable attack dogs on social media. He's built his brand on opposing Donald Trump and everything adjacent to Trump's orbit. So when Krassenstein announced he bought a Tesla Cybertruck, his followers didn't congratulate him on the smart purchase. They threatened to kill him.

Krassenstein, for all his faults, decided not to let politics dictate his choice and made a practical one for himself.

His followers didn't see it that way.

The backlash was swift and vicious. Krassenstein watched his follower count crater from 1.5 million to under a million. And apparently, losing followers wasn't the worst of it.

"Crap. I didn't think buying a Cybertruck would result in death threats," he said. "Calm down. I'm obsessed with AI and saving the environment. I still despise Trump and what Republicans are doing to this country."

I would have thought Proggies had given up on their failed Tesla boycott, but apparently the Musk-hatred is undiminished (if not increased by the failure of the boycott).

In my obviously limited observation, despite Santa Clara County having voted Kammie by >70%, Tesla seems to be selling relatively well (I know how to recognize recently issued license plates and paper temporary plates for new purchases). Silicon Valley being Silicon Valley, tech toys are much loved here, and our climate is excellent for battery charge life.
