Fulton DA Fani Willis hires controversial ex-judge as a prosecutor

Quote
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A former Fulton County Superior Court judge who was the focus of a judicial misconduct investigation has been hired as a prosecutor by the district attorney who attempted to put Donald Trump in jail.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ office confirmed it has hired Shermela Williams as a prosecutor.
...
Williams was first elected to the court in 2020 and mostly handled family, divorce and child custody-related cases. But she resigned in February 2026 while facing a judicial misconduct case before the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission.

While she was a judge, Williams was accused of:

* Illegally detaining and jailing a young witness during a divorce/custody matter without lawful authority.

* Improperly trying to influence a case involving a family member.

* Improper ex parte communications, which are communications about cases outside the presence of the other side;

* Chronic delays in issuing orders/rulings in family-law cases.

Somehow, Fani hiring a corrupt, tyrannous, incompetent former judge seems par for Fani's course.

I think hers is an elective position, so either she probably would need to be voted out by voters or criminally prosecuted, found guilty, and sentenced.

Guilty for sure. But, she gets away with it. To prosecute would risk being labeled racist. Soooo...
