Senate Candidate Transarico Says Displaying Ten Commandments Is ‘Violence’

Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico said displaying the Ten Commandments in public schools is an act of “violence” against Christianity and Judaism.

Because I haven’t yet had a chance to comment on this, allow me to stop right here and announce my gratitude towards Texas Democrats for nominating James Transarico instead of Rep. Jasmine Crockett. Crockett worried me. Yeah, she’s a nut, but she’s an appealing and charismatic nut with an anti-establishment edge who might have encouraged certain groups to come out and vote for her, who likely won’t for this Transarico guy.

Transarico is a nut, for sure, but he’s a bland, pasty-faced nut. He’s the Irishman Beto O’Rourke without the Kennedyesque veneer. Transarico is Mr. Rogers’ gay neighbor who lives in a tidy house all alone, unless you count his four cats and the parakeet.

I don’t predict election outcomes, but I’m sure relieved super-Christian Stephen Colbert told a bunch of lies to rig it for Gay Neighbor Talarico.

The Ten Commandments are more than just the basis of Judaism and Christianity; they are the basis of American law. Moreover, they are the basis of Western civilization. To say they are history is an understatement.

I guess the cemetery where Talarico got his MDiv forgot to tell him that the Ten Commandments are in the Christian Bible and the Jewish Torah. Here is Exodus 20:1-17 from the ESV:

And God spoke all these words, saying,

2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. I can understand atheists not liking recognition of God, but violence? And how is commanding recognition of God violence against Christians and Jews who intrinsically recognize God?

Respecting parents is violence?

I can understand, I suppose, Progs not liking the forbidding of murder, adultery, theft, perjury and false accusation, and envy, since Progs approve of all those under circumstances of their liking, but against, how are these commandments violence.

Love it or hate it, recognition of being accountable to a Being greater than oneself and basic moral decency are necessary for a civil society.
