Maryland Law Enforcement Won’t Comply With the State’s Ridiculous Rules For ICE, and That’s a Good Thing

In this particular case, let’s look at what’s happening in Maryland. Gov. Wes Moore (yep, Democrat) recently signed two pieces of legislation into law – HB444 and SB245. With that, he’s practically requested that state and local law enforcement not enter into an agreement with ICE agents who are pursuing illegal immigrants.

Which is absolutely mind-boggling to me. Moore is basically saying that these illegal immigrant criminals deserve to be protected, and is now trying to tie the hands of law enforcement officers who simply want to enforce the rules.

Sheriff Charles Jenkins, who works within Fredrick County, noted, “We can continue to work with ICE without necessarily being in the program. We can still do the 48-hour holds on individuals with detainers, we can still contact ICE to let them know if an individual is about to be released with a detainer, we can also provide arrestee lists to ICE so they can review and check it.”

Now, will Moore complain about these small loopholes the sheriffs are taking advantage of to help ICE? Probably. But does he have anything to enforce? Nope. They’re doing their jobs. And despite his best efforts, they’re going to continue doing their jobs.

Jenkins continued, discussing why Moore would sign these laws to begin with. “This was all passed because of the current administration, and the perception of what everybody is watching on television is also what is happening here. It’s just the opposite.”

Looks like some sheriffs' departments don't want to be pawns in the Dem goobernor's anti-Trump game.

Stephen Kruiser wrote an excellent piece on Wednesday about the left's backlash against the gold medal-winning USA men's hockey team for not being sufficiently outraged at Donald Trump's joking about being forced to invite the women's gold medal hockey team for an Oval Office visit, or he'd "be impeached."

It was an amusing bon mot that, in context, acknowledged the thrilling victory of the women's team while joking about his supposed misogyny. That just wouldn't do for the left. They're the ones who call out Trump for his supposed misogyny.

When the players refused to be outraged about Trump's joke, the left-wing outrage machine went into high gear.

“The USA men’s hockey team utterly failed to meet the cultural moment,” declared a USA Today writer.

The "cultural moment"? Holy hockey stick, Batman, take a look at Jack Hughes' smile after the game. He's missing at least one tooth from being whacked across the mouth with a Canadian player's stick. That happy, bloody, toothless smile was hardly related to "culture," but it got the message across.

Trump mocked Progs' stereotypes and the US men's hockey team is getting dumped on for not being outraged by Trump's mockery. And for failing to hate Trump.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, is facing criticism online after she reportedly had armed security guards remove The Atlantic staff writer Elaine Godfrey from her Senate campaign rally on Monday.

Godfrey reported that she was "thrown out" of Crockett's rally after being labeled a "top-notch hater" by Crockett's team.

"Right before armed guards escorted me from the rally and left me on the edge of a Texas-county road, I was informed that I was no longer welcome at an event that I had already attended," Godfrey wrote on Thursday.

"'Are you Elaine?' she asked. I recognized her from the entrance of the event, where I had identified myself as she’d waved me into the building’s press area. Yes, I answered. 'Her team has asked you to leave,' she said. When I asked why, the staffer looked at her phone and read dutifully: ‘They just said, "Elaine from Atlantic, white girl with a hat and notepad. She’s interviewing people in the crowd. She’s a top-notch hater and will spin. She needs to leave,"’" Godfrey wrote.

In response to the congresswoman's claim that there was a "specific journalist" at the event who has a "history of being less than truthful" and had previously lost a lawsuit against Crockett, The Atlantic reporter wrote: "Perhaps she was thinking of someone else, because that’s not something that has ever happened to me."

Apparently, Godfrey's "sin" is that Crockett disliked some part of this article she wrote about Crockett, https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2025/07/jasmine-crockett-democrats/683652/ . It's behind a paywall, so I did not see what would upset Crockett in the short intro I could read. Maybe, as Godfrey suggested, Crockett confused her with someone else ... you know, all whiteys look alike.

In an interview with podcaster Patrick Bet-David this week, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem revealed the depth of some of the problems her department has been facing and the people who have helped her fight the alleged corruption.

"You wouldn't even believe what I've found since I've been in this department," Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said on the "PBD Podcast" this week.

"I just found the other day a whole room on this campus that was a secret SCIF — secure facility — that had files nobody knew existed. So we just happened to have an employee walk by a door and wonder what it was and started asking questions. We went in there. There was individuals working there that had secret files that nobody knew about on some of these most controversial topics."

Noem also claimed that her devices were compromised but that Elon Musk's tech team helped expose the software that was compromising her privacy.

"Elon and his team were extremely helpful to me. They helped me identify that some of my own employees in my department had downloaded software on my phone and my laptop to spy on me, to record our meetings. They had done that to several of the politicals."

DHS has partisan operatives who, at the least, need a pink ticket to fryolator training.
