Yesterday evening, my wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day as we always do.

We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and overtipped the staff. This year, that restaurant here in a MSP suburb has been closed for over a month. It was raided by ICE early on in the stupidity that's going on. The owners shut it down, but reopened it this week.

Even though it is a popular restaurant in my community, it's never hugely crowded. Except last evening, when there was a waiting line to get in. People have come back in force to welcome the owners and employees back. I've never had to wait there before, but we waited yesterday.

We always overtip around Valentines date and always go to a Mexican restaurant because we flew to Mexico for a week at an all-inclusive resort before we decided to get married. It's a tradition. So, we tipped even more last night.

People are supporting our migrant communities here in the Twin Cities. There were lots of smiles there yesterday.

The two Mexican and the Salvadorean restaurants I could walk to in 15 minutes or less haven't closed. Maybe it's because they don't hire illegals. The Chinese, Thai, Japanese (sushi), and Punjabi Indian restaurants near me also have not closed, either. It's funny how well things go when US immigration laws are obeyed.

there are 172 words in that word salad to tell the reader 3 different times that he is a big tipper.

I'm surprised that it didn't brag about how they spent their time at the "all inclusive resort that many other DUers couldn't afford to visit" helping the poor Mexicans that couldn't get by without lefty help to the point that the Mexicans lovingly referred to the DUer as "El gran imbécil arrogante y estúpido".

" I forgot to add that I ordered in Spanish, too. I said, "Dos tacos con frijoles, por favor." And the little Mexican server bowed deeply at my innate respect for his language and customs. Another thing I forgot to mention is that my big tip (or, 'propina grande,' as we experts in Mexican culture say) was in pesos. I have several Mexican coins in my desk drawer that won't work in the soda machine at the laundromat, and I was sure to bring them. I can only imagine the look of appreciation on Pepe's face as he bussed the table and saw those shiny centavos from his native land!"
