As we approach MLK day

Is there anything substantiating the accusations of MLK's extra marital affairs and participation in the abuse of women while he was being watched by the FBI?  All I ever come across when looking for answers are notes and questionable quotes in various FBI files. 

It would be a crying shame if they are true, because nobody needs to have MLK's legacy erased, which would be the purpose of such character assassination.

I've not looked into reports of MLK Jr.'s or JFK's womanizing and/or affairs. Libs and Pros wouldn't care, and wrt MLK Jr., if true, it still doesn't undo what he did wrt civil rights.

All heroes have warts, the main difference is where and how large.

True, but look at what happened to Bill Cosby.  Decades of a legacy pushing education, especially to the black community, buried under similar depraved acts. 

Not saying Cos had the same impact as MLK, but some of the accusations against King are along the lines as Cos's abuses of women, and the modern memory hole has pretty powerful suction.  I'm sitting here showing student's "I Have a Dream" and I have black kids are too busy laughing at the bald guy behind Dr. King and thinking he's not saying "negro" to have a clue what he was talking about.  It's awful easy to wipe events away when people are too busy with their bread and circuses to notice what disappeared.  Sprinkle on a little outrage, and it's even easier.
