Woke Priest Uses His Church’s Nativity Scene to Mock and Defy ICE

For the left, everything is political, and those aspects of life that aren’t obviously political can and must be politicized. The Rev. Stephen Josoma of Saint Susanna Roman Catholic Church in Dedham, Mass. knows this quite well. For years, he has used his parish as a sounding board for his far-left views, and this Christmas season is no different: he has turned his parish’s Nativity scene into a large denunciation of ICE.

Saint Susanna’s looks to be the parish of choice for Roman Catholics who like their Christianity with a strong dose of Marxism added in. The latest parish bulletin touts “A National Call for Moral Revival,” which “challenges the evils of systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, ecological devastation and the nation’s distorted morality of religious nationalism.”

The bulletin also includes a quotation from “the Jesuit Alfred Delp who was executed by the Nazis,” and who warns that “we run the risk of concealing Christmas behind bourgeois customs and sentimentality, behind all those traditions that make this holiday dear and precious to us.” Whatever Delp may have meant by this, for the modern-day leftist Roman Catholics at Saint Susanna’s, it clearly means to cut out the Christmas cheer and focus on improving the lot of the oppressed victims of racism, classism, xenophobia, and “Islamophobia.” Gotta guard against those bourgeois customs, after all.

The Catholic Church in the US has, for decades, been a warren variously populated by faithful observant Catholic believers, New Age-y something-or-others, political animals like this, and folks who don't let their Catholicism interfere much with their partying and business. I'm not a fan of heresy-hunting perfection-or-nothingists, but the state of the church in the US is sad to this outsider.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Eats Somali Food, Looks Like He’s Trying Not to Vomit

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey this week participated in a series of events and public statements addressing reports that the Trump administration was preparing to arrest Somali criminals and individuals in the country unlawfully in the Twin Cities.

The developments came as Frey appeared in widely circulated footage eating traditional Somali food during a visit with community members.

In the video, Frey was shown taking large bites of Ambulo, a traditional Somali dish made from boiled adzuki beans, wheat berries, sugar, and spices.

Sounds like Frey's experience and tastes don't extend far beyond meat and potatoes, maybe plus Americanized "Chinese" food*, pizza & pasta, and Taco Bell. I'm going to guess that Somali and Ethiopian food are similar, and Ethiopian food (which I have had) is pretty different from common American tastes.


* This is based on the cuisine from modern Guangdong Province, but with ~170 years of adaptation to ingredients available in 19th and 20th Century America and American tastes. It's not exactly "authentic", but it isn't phony.

Report: Minneapolis Police Chief Warns Officers ‘They’ll Be Fired’ if They Do Not Stop ICE’s ‘Unlawful Force’

Minneapolis police officers are reportedly in danger of losing their jobs if they do not intervene in certain situations involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Police Chief Brian O’Hara reportedly said if any of his officers see ICE agents using “unlawful force” against people in his area, they are expected to take action, MS Now reported on Friday.

When asked how his officers were expected to respond to excessive force from the federal agents, the outlet quoted O’Hara as saying, “If unlawful force is being used by any law enforcement officer against any person in this city and one of our officers is there, absolutely, I expect them to intervene, or they’ll be fired.”

Isn't Minneapolis one of the under-Blue cities that has trouble recruiting police officers? I do not think many MPD officers will be interfering with ICE and CBP agents performing their duties.

Nothing Gina Carano ever said online has been as harsh as what Ellen Barkin spews.

Yet Carano got fired by Disney for posts that supposedly crossed a bright, red line. (Carano later sued the Mouse House and came away happy with her settlement).

Barkin has yet to face repercussions from her online hate, nor will she. The actress mostly hits targets on the Right, and that is perfectly acceptable within her Hollywood clique.

Barkin targeted Erika Kirk on Friday in a series of increasingly nasty X posts. Kirk watched her husband and the father of her two children get gunned down by a lone sniper on Sept. 10, an assassination that shocked the nation.

No matter what one thinks about Charlie Kirk, his widow or their collective beliefs, mocking a newly widowed mother is about as low as one can go.

Yet the Left consistently goes there on social media. Barkin joined them on Friday.

Not being a super-fan of Hollywood movies, I had to look up Barkin in W'pedia. I recognized few of the titles of movies in which Barkin appeared. Erika is already more significant than Barkin, and is likely to be more so.

At her age (71), Barkin should be considering her own eternal future rather than seeking good people on whom she can dish her impotent hate.
