So what was the point?

So what was the point?

The government shutdown was supposedly about keeping the ACA affordable and available, keeping the ACA subsidies flowing. Democrats were fighting the good fight, the public sentiment was with them. Communities were coming together to help those in need with food and other supplies. Travelers were grumbling, but making workaround plans, the American people were making sacrifices and were ready to make more because they knew all of this was for a worthwhile cause. The momentum was on the side of right, popular opinion was with the Democrats, Trump and MAGA were on the ropes. All we had to do was hold strong and don't give up.

Then on Sunday, the Democrats caved, threw in the towel, all for what, a vague promise on a healthcare vote before the end of the year, a vote which may or may not happen, a vote which we will lose.

So what was the point? What was the point in putting people through a forty plus day wringer if you're not going to see the fight through to the end? If you're going to fight, then dammit, fight, to the very end. If all you're going to do is give up in the end, then don't bother putting people through hell, just cave at the beginning and save us all the time trouble and pain. Now, people who are on SNAP or are government employees are going to have to climb out of two holes, the one they're in because they didn't get their benefits and/or paychecks and the second being how are they going to pay for radically increased ACA premiums.

This is one reason the Democratic party is losing voters, they don't fight, they don't see the fight through, even when public opinion is on their side. They cave, and the result of their actions only make the original problem worse. I don't know what happened, at one time Democrats actually fought for what they believed in, but over the past few decades, not so much. They talk a good game, pious platitudes and all that, but when the rubber meets the road, well, let's say their efforts are less than disappointing.

The people of this country want to fight to take their country back, even at the expense of short term pain. The political party that is willing to lead them, to fight for them and with them, to see the matter through to the end, that party would become unstoppable. Right now, that party is not the Democratic party. Let's hope that isn't the case going forward.

LPC Noob indusurb might get a granite pizza for admitting that one of Dems' demands was subsidies to conceal how UNaffordable OhBummer!-Don't-Care is. DU's MIRT really should investigate LPC Noob indusurb.

LPC Noob indusurb has a very capacious rectum and colon. Apparently 8 Dem Senators' heads are not that far up theirs.

The people of this country want...

The people of this country want men out of womens spaces and womens sports.

The people of this country want illegal aliens deported.

The people of this country want secure borders and an end to illegal immigration as we have known it.

Those are 80/20 issues, and DUmmies are on the 20 side of them

DUmmies are in no position to be declaring what the American people want.
"Be not intimidated... nor suffer yourselves to be wheedled out of your liberties by any pretense of politeness, delicacy, or decency. These, as they are often used, are but three different names for hypocrisy, chicanery and cowardice." - John Adams

Hillary Clinton will never be the President of the United States.

According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."
