imanamerican63 (15,545 posts)He is tearing down a national monument. For many years now, the White House has stood the test of time. Yes, it has gone through renovation and repairs. But to tear it apart to put in a ballroom is a terrible mistake. The East Wing has some great history and it can never be forgotten or replaced.Pathetic display by a thug who doesn’t understand the meaning of history and the importance of what he is tearing down. This will take years to complete, but he does not care! He just does whatever he wants! Hell, he may never see the complement of the his own stupidity.Other presidents knew the historical value and the meaning of history that the White House brings to those who are lucky enough to live there. But this idiot doesn’t even want to understand and that is a pitiful reminder of how he has no interest or respect for the history that it brings to this country. And to the construction companies who are doing this job? Shame on you for even taking the job! Oh by the way, when you finally finish the job? What for it, he will stiff you, even though it’s taxpayer who are footing the bill, good luck with that one!https://democraticunderground.com/100220736934

Cool! Now do monuments and statues, I'll wait.
Key FactsCalled the White House State Ballroom, the addition will be approximately 90,000 total square feet, which is significantly larger than the 55,000-square-foot White House as it stands now.Renderings show a massive building standing in place of the current East Wing, which serves as office space for the first lady and her staff, and connected to the main White House by an enclosed walkway.Trump and his donors have said they will raise the funds necessary for the addition, which is expected to be completed "long before the end of President Trump’s term," the White House said Thursday. The White House called the ballroom a "much-needed and exquisite addition," and renderings show a massive gilded space with coffered ceilings, chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling arched windows. The ballroom will be separate from the main building of the White House but its "theme and architectural heritage will be almost identical,” the administration said.
Trump is not tearing down the White House. At. All. Here's what he is and will be doing:
Regardless if its official name, it will always known as The Trump Ballroom so he can live in their heads rent free for decades, maybe centuries, to come. It will be his everlasting troll.
...And why shouldn't the white house have a nice ballroom?
And yet the DUmmies had no problem with Obama pissing away hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to have part of the WH torn down and turned into a basketball court.
The Charlie Kirk Memorial Ballroom Derangement Syndrome, a minor derivative of TDS, will fade into the memory hole when the leftists and the media drum up yet another non-existent scandal worse than Watergate next week.

BREAKING - A 2010 CNN clip of Obama’s $376 million White House renovation, fully funded by taxpayers unlike President Trump’s $250 million ballroom he’s paying for himself, is going viral as viewers call out Democrat hypocrisy and fake outrage.

Trump is not tearing down the White House. At. All. Here's what he is and will be doing:Trump’s $200 Million Ballroom Addition Is Larger Than The Existing White House: What We Know (With Photos)https://www.forbes.com/sites/maryroeloffs/2025/07/31/trumps-200-ballroom-addition-is-larger-than-the-existing-white-house-what-we-know-with-photos/The East wing is connected by corridor to but not part of the White House. The first East Wing was built in the early 20th Century, during TR's Administration, as an entry and coat room for social gatherings. The current East Wing was built by FDR in 1942, housing a movie theater and office space. The first First Lady to use the East Wing for her own office was Rosalyn Carter. IOW, Trump is not "tearing down a national monument". Trump will be tearing down a mid-20th-Century office building and replacing it with a ballroom capable of handling the large gatherings that currently use tents on the South Lawn, which doesn't work in cold and inclement weather.Did any DUmmie dare point out that the East wing is not part of the White House and that it was built in 1942, not the 18th or early 19th Century? ETA: As of this post, no, no DUmmie is that informed and honest. How many even know the East Wing is not part of the WH I won't speculate.
Who wants to tell them that most of the innards of the original White House are currently underground in a landfill , and have been there since the 1950s ? That when you are sleeping in ‘The Lincoln Bedroom’ you really aren’t?
