I welcome the news that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be permitted to watch the match at Aston Villa! Well done to all those that signed our petition!

UK police face pressure to reverse ban on Israeli soccer fans at Birmingham match

LONDON (AP) — Pressure mounted Friday on police authorities in the English city of Birmingham to reverse a ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer fans attending a Europa League game at Aston Villa next month over security concerns, a decision that drew widespread condemnation.

Behind the scenes, the government was seeking to resolve the row, which comes at a time of heightened worries about antisemitism in Britain following a deadly attack on a Manchester synagogue earlier this month and calls from Palestinians and their supporters for a sports boycott of Israel over its conduct of the war against Hamas in Gaza.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the police recommendation to bar the visiting team’s fans from the Nov. 6 game was “the wrong decision” and that “the role of the police is to ensure all football fans can enjoy the game, without fear of violence or intimidation.”

Starme should have said, "WTF are you thinking?!" The Maccabi Tel Aviv team should give the Europa League a three-way choice: Their fans attend freely, with proper security; the match is moved if Birmingham refuses; if neither, all Israeli teams very publicly refuse to participate in the league.

Antisemitism is skyrocketing in EuroLand, and not "just" Muslim immigrants (many of whom simply want a better life, not to persecute Jews).

UK police used fake evidence to justify ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, chief admits

The UK’s West Midlands Police used fictitious evidence to justify its advice to ban Israeli fans of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer team from attending a match in Birmingham last month, the force’s chief admitted to a parliamentary committee Monday, as MPs grilled police brass on the basis of their controversial decision.
...
In the report presented to the club that suggested banning Israeli fans, police presented information about a 2023 match between Maccabi and West Ham, which the report said was the Israeli club’s “last appearance on UK soil to date.”

“The most recent match Maccabi played in the UK was against West Ham in the Europa Conference League on Nov 9, 2023,” the report read.

However, no such match was played, and Maccabi has never faced off against the East London club.

When grilled about the fact that this fictitious match was included in his force’s report, Chief Constable Craig Guildford admitted to the Home Affairs Committee that such an event “didn’t happen.”

Gee, where did this anti-Israel (= antisemitic) fake evidence come from and why did no one blow a whistle on it until after it did not matter? The latter is a rhetorical question, of course.

Sadly, the Nazis only made antisemitism unfashionable for 2 or 3 generations, in the west, at least. In the ME it's been expanding since the 7th Century, from Arabia outward.
