NORFOLK, Virginia — New York Attorney General Letitia James is housing a second criminal family member at her properties in Virginia — and The Post can reveal she and her big sister were partners in crime.

James’ grand-niece Cayla Thompson-Hairston, 21 — who is an OnlyFans star with a public, X-rated social media presence — was charged in April 2024 with lying about her felony criminal record when she tried to buy a gun in Suffolk, Virginia, according to court docs.

Cayla was legally “disqualified” from owning a firearm due to an August 2020 felony charge of malicious wounding — which Virginia law defines as a crime in which a person “shoots, stabs, cuts or wounds any other person, or by any means causes bodily injury, with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable or kill.”

Both family members — Cayla Thompson-Hairston and Nakia Thompson — live in houses owned by James that have been at the center of federal criminal scrutiny over mortgage documents that James signed.

The feds, however, say she moved Thompson in and collected rent on the property soon after she bought it — and that her alleged lie allowed her to get a better rate on her mortgage, a $19,000 gain.

During an onstage appearance as part of Bloomberg’s Screentime conference in Hollywood last week, 2022 LA mayoral candidate and billionaire Rick Caruso made it clear that his namesake company, Caruso, has no plans of building in LA anytime soon, as reported by real estate news site the Real Deal.

“As a company that takes great pride in being L.A. based, we no longer build within the city of Los Angeles because of the unpredictability, the cost of doing it [and] the multiple layers of bureaucracy you have to go through for approvals,” Caruso said, according to the Real Deal. “And I made that decision long before I ever ran for office.”

He added, “What people need to understand, what leadership needs to understand, is money is going to travel in directions that have the less friction to it, the less risk to it. And L.A. is redlined now, because of the fires, because of the homeless problem, because of the crime problem. Find a crane in L.A. In 10 years, the lowest amount of housing is now.”

During his remarks last week, Caruso attributed 40% of housing costs to regulations. “That includes the permitting process, parking requirements for multifamily, energy efficiency and seismic standards and environmental impact reviews,” the Real Deal reported. “Since 2023, developers can also tack Measure ULA, a city-specific tax on all property transactions starting at $5.3 million, on the other end of the deal, often making an eventual sale more difficult or less profitable.”

About That Pentagon Press Policy

I have hesitated to write about the kerfuffle over the press policy that has caused so much angst among journalists who cover the Pentagon.

The reason is simple: I hadn't taken the time to read it in its entirety ..., and I was pretty confident that I wasn't getting the full story from media accounts, although I knew that I could be wrong in that assumption.

... What the media are feeding you is complete horse do-do.

First, let's take a look at the line being fed to the American people by whining media folks. There is lots of talk of First Amendment violations and an attack on freedom of the press, and claims being made that the military is demanding to vet everything that reporters write or say before it goes out to the public. Reporters have left in a huff, having turned in their press passes rather than obey the rules laid out by the Secretary of War.

From all the storm and strife, it sure looks as if the Pentagon has stepped over the line, and if Pete Hegseth were actually demanding that the media run everything they report before it gets released, the journalists would have a good point and be right in their refusal to obey the rules.

But, of course, they are not right, as usual. Whether it is because they lack reading comprehension--a possibility--or because they are lying--also a possibility--is up to you to decide.

Cynical Publius is absolutely correct. The Pentagon policy merely quotes rules for Department of War employees that are longstanding, and imposes absolutely no new restrictions on what the media report. So what the "journalists," who have just LIED to you about "new" restrictions on what they can report, are complaining about is being informed about the legal limits that have always applied to Pentagon employees.

It's simple: unauthorized people cannot leak to the media without facing consequences. Only authorized personnel may speak to the media, which has always been the case. The punishment for leaking classified material is harsh, and the potential punishment for leaking unclassified material is less so, but potentially significant.

Everybody should know that. Reporters can still report whatever they like, but people who leak to them are at risk of punishment.

This sort of restriction is not only nothing new, but also applies at any workplace. If an employee talks to the media without being authorized to do so, chances are they will face consequences, whether they work at Target or for the government. It's why reporters will insert lines like "the source asked to be anonymous because they are not authorized to speak for..."

My emphasis. If I speak "for" my employer without authorization or share inside info without authorization I would be canned, and possibly face a civil lawsuit. But the MSM are entitled.

WASHINGTON — Former special counsel Jack Smith was referred to the Department of Justice office that deals with professional misconduct — as well as for disbarment by two state panels — following “deeply disturbing revelations” that he surreptitiously obtained congressional Republicans’ call logs.

A Friday letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi led by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) accused former President Joe Biden’s DOJ of having “spied on duly elected members of Congress” and demanding that Smith be investigated by the department’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

“As part of Jack Smith’s weaponized witch hunt, the Biden DOJ issued subpoenas to several telecommunications companies in 2023 regarding our cell phone records, gaining access to the time, recipient, duration, and location of calls placed on our devices from January 4, 2021, to January 7, 2021,” Blackburn and the other lawmakers said.

This is "just" a referral from Congress, so it may or may not go anywhere.

I've marveled at Biden, Schiff, and the whole Russia hoax cast looking straight into the camera and lying their asses off.  They project unquestionable integrity while they so smoothly show zero regard for truth. An equally guilty MSM makes it possible. I remember the CEO of PBS  news (or some such title) indignant with traces of arrogance saying they weren't biased in their news.  Hey lady, you're full of it.
In politics, I believe they all are aware of this, in the MSM, the top 80 or so percent are aware ,  and maybe, maybe 10% of the DU'ers understand this. The true believing DU'ers (90-ish percent) are divorced from how things really work They rely on positions handed down from above. These positions make them feel good. So good that they don't question them deeply.
Above, I'm analyzing  about what's in their heads. And its really just this once. But, the DU clowns do the same thing nearly every post.
