Antifa are the latest incarnation of the "Black bloc" Anarchist dickheads that have been a frequent presence at far- left- wing protests since the 90s or so, almost always being the first ones there to get violent.
They (Both back then, and now), are Anarchists who superficially latch onto far- left causes, but really only care about spreading violence, lawlessness, and chaos as a way to advance their Anarchist beliefs, and use the leftist causes as a skin- deep justification for it.
A few other facts about them, past and present (I speak as someone whose brother was part of a similar group in the 2000s, though he thankfully outgrew those douchebags on his own):
They have always sought the complete downfall of American society, but thankfully, they lack the brains, resources, charisma and discipline to do anything more ambitious than starting the occasional riot.
They claim to be all about "Racial equality" and "Down with capitalism and corporate greed," even as nearly all of them are lily- white, spoiled trust- fund brats usually between the ages of 15 and 25 who hate their rich suburbanite parents yet continue to take money from them. They make Tweets ranting about the "Evils" of capitalism and corporate America on their current- model Iphones.
They claim to be all about "Empowering the workers," even as they themselves have never had a job in their spoiled little lives and simply leech off their parents or beg/ mooch from or steal from businesses and people who DO work for a living (Generally referred to with such euphemisms as "Food liberation" and "Money liberation").
They either live with their parents (Usually cursing them out every morning), or squat in abandoned buildings.
They usually smell like Woodstock port- a- potties stuffed full of roadkill and left out in the desert. This is due to their belief that things like deodorant use, regular bathing, and other forms of personal hygiene are for "Nazis" (I'm not kidding; I've been to a lot of their propaganda websites for laughs).
They spend most of their waking hours in a drug- induced haze. They tend to be particularly fond of crystal meth, hence their incredibly aggressive and violent behavior.
They go to their "Direct actions" (aka riots and acts of terrorism) dressed in mostly- black, scrubby- looking clothing.
Their signature fashion choice is to cover their faces with bandanas that make them look like lobotomized Wild West bank robbers They do this for three reasons: To make it harder for police to identify and arrest them when they inevitably engage in violence and rioting, to lessen the risk of their rich parents recognizing them in news coverage of the riots and cutting off their trust funds (As I indicated earlier, they are terrified of the concept of having to get real jobs and work for a living), and to cover up the fact that they tend to have horribly rotted teeth due to a combination of meth- mouth and their aforementioned aversion to personal hygiene.
Other facial coverings they can occasionally wear are Guy Fawkes masks, owing to the fact that the film 'V for Vendetta' is considered mandatory viewing for them. Nothing says "Fight the man, oppose capitalism" quite like wearing plastic, mass- produced masks that were made in a factory in China by workers operating under sweatshop conditions and distributed as merchandise for a big- budget Hollywood movie.
In addition to obviously Molotov cocktails, other weapons that "Black bloc" scum frequently use are knives, bats and wrist- rocket slingshots.
A notable past "Black bloc" Anarchist was James Holmes, aka the nutcase who committed the 2012 Aurora movie theater mass- shooting. It is believed that the reason why he carried out this shooting at the midnight premiere of 'The Dark Knight Rises' was because that movie's message could be seen as critical of Anarchist beliefs. Were he not currently rotting in prison where he belongs, I have no doubt he'd be a proud member of Antifa now.
If you attempt to confront one of them and express any opinion that disagrees with their own, they will almost certainly call you a "Nazi" and physically attack you.
That about sums them up.
