Late-night TV is well and truly dead — at the hands of the hosts themselves.

Their weapon? Their own blind rage at half the country.

Hosts like Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert have deluded themselves into thinking that their mandate is to save democracy with one-sided political rants, rather than serving up breezy topical humor to send Americans to their nightly slumber.

The reality is, this moment of reckoning was self-inflicted — and inevitable. For the last decade, Kimmel and Colbert have decided that viewers don’t need chuckles and interviews with the celeb du jour.

We don’t even need jokes.

Nope, we need to be lectured on politics and told that one side of the country, those who voted Republican, is inherently evil and destructive.

Even as their cultural power dwindled and viewers splintered into more diverse online offerings, Kimmel and Colbert continued with their collective lead foot on the gas pedal.

But network shows don’t rake in the advertising bucks they used to — and, sometimes, the headaches simply aren’t worth the money.

Jimmy Kimmel’s future at ABC was up in the air even before his incendiary TV comments, multiple sources told Page Six.

The multi-millionaire late night host had just months left on his deal with Disney, and was set to start negotiations with bigwigs later this year.

However, we’re told that ABC may have been getting ready to push him out after this season.

Jimmy Kimmel was already on thin ice. ABC was planning to axe him before his show got suspended "indefinitely".

Double down? Technically, Jimmy Kimmel wanted to double down on his double down, which would be ... an In-N-Out 4x4 of stupid. Kimmel apparently thought he was the house, and the casino instead called in his chips.

Kimmel got yanked off the air, CNN reports, because ABC and Disney execs found out that he planned to escalate his previous escalation. Others had reported that Kimmel wanted to argue that his comments had been taken out of context, but that Disney got cold feet. After already doubling down on blaming "MAGA" for Charlie Kirk's assassination, Kimmel planned another double-down:

In his arrogance and hatred, Kimmel forgot that advertisers (yes, ABC was getting complaints), affiliates, and Disney/ABC were his paycheck. Most dogs know not to bite the hand that feeds them. Hopefully he learns the hard way what Kathy the Griffin learned, that there are had boundaries to what normal people will support with their ticket dollars.
