Spouting stupid stereotypes like that just exposes Prog ignorance of those they hate. For example:
... the uber wealthy realized that they must use religion to get the masses on their side.
In the real world, few Christian leaders, from pastors up to denominational leaders, are even close to wealthy. A few are, but they are very, very few.
How do you make greed sound good and diversity and care for the poor and weak sound bad?
In the real world, Christian churches have, for a couple of millennia, been leaders in providing charitable care to "the poor and weak". Whether creating
______ Hospital in hundreds of cities, or operating homeless or recovery ministries, those are the real world of the US.
... they created the concept of the “prosperity gospel” that preached that money and the love of it is good thing that is “ordained” by God.
In the real world, I do not know who
Funtatlaguy's "they" are, but Prosperity-Gospelers' origins and degree of influence are very different from his/her stereotype. As to origin, the movement actually grew out of Pentecostal and charismatic churches, mostly in the mid 20th Century.
Funtatlaguy probably would not know this, but Pentecostal churches are a corner in Evangelical Protestantism, which is a corner of Protestantism, which is a corner of Christianity in the US. IOW, their influence scope was and is very limited, not remotely close near the ubiquity
Funtatlaguy fantasizes.
Further, while Prosperity-Gospelers exist, obviously, even among Evangelical Protestants and Pentecostals/charismatics, Prosperity-Gospelers are widely rejected, and have been for decades.
Funtatlaguy is spouting ignorance from
Prog StereotypeLand, unsurprisingly.
Knowing this first-hand makes me feel old.
Hell with The Ten Commandments and Jesus preaching about the money changers.
In real-world Christian churches, preaching and teaching against materialism is very common. As to the "Ten Commandments" Jesus affirmed the Mosaic Law in its explication of the "Ten Commandments". Jesus affirmed, for example, the laws forbidding sexual promiscuity outside of marriage, adultery, homosexuality, and economic envy.
... they did that with corporate and social media takeovers constantly peddling lies.
Again, I do not know who
Funtatlaguy's "they" are, but in the real world, Christian leaders did not create social media sources, took over nothing, and have been late and light users of social media.
... a dumbed down populace ...
In the real world, PSs have for decades been dumbing down the "populace" by teaching kids
what they "should" think instead of teaching the tools and logic of thinking for themselves.
Uniformity is now in.
Well, going off-message, failure of uniformity, on DU earns granite pizzas, but I do not think
Funtatlaguy would be honest enough to admit this comment describes DU rather than the real world.
And by that, you must be white straight conservative Christian Republican to be truly valued in America.
Blacks, Hispanics, Gays, non theists, etc. are second class citizens (at best) and public policy should reflect that.
In the real world, people of his list are as free to live where they want, work in their chosen careers, vote, and do social stuff as the "white straight conservative Christian Republican(s)"
((s)he forgot "gun nuts") Funtatlaguy hates and would gladly drive out of their professions.
All that was needed was a charismatic charlatan tv show host to lead the way. They found an awesomely moronic useful idiot in Trump. The corporate media then did his cheerleading ...
In the real world:
* Trump has been a real estate developer and manager since he started working in his Dad's real estate management company in the 1970s;
* Significant aspects of Trump's lifestyle, his past womanizing and divorces have been widely notorious among Christians and conservatives rather than embraced; FWIW, though Progs want it not to be true, since his marriage to Melania in 2006, he seems to have left that lifestyle in the past;
* Trump is far from and idiot; he has an MS from Penn in an era before grade inflation and dumbing down of curricula; Trump managed to transition his Dad's fairly successful residential property management business into higher risk but profitable hospitality property operation and management - with some bankruptcies, but mostly successfully;
* MSM, as a bloc, have systematically lied about things Trump did and said in a 10-year (and counting) effort to torpedo Trump ... not successfully.
