A preliminary classified U.S. report says the American bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites sealed off the entrances to two of the facilities but did not collapse their underground buildings, according to officials familiar with the findings.

The early findings conclude that the strikes over the weekend set back Iran’s nuclear program by only a few months, the officials said.

Before the attack, U.S. intelligence agencies had said that if Iran tried to rush to making a bomb, it would take about three months. After the U.S. bombing run and days of attacks by the Israeli Air Force, the report by the Defense Intelligence Agency estimated that the program was delayed less than six months.

Former officials said that any rushed effort by Iran to get a bomb would be to develop a relatively small and crude device. A miniaturized warhead would be far more difficult to produce, and it is not clear how much damage to that more advanced research has taken place.

After four years in Trump's first term of intelligence people withholding information from Trump, lying to Trump, lying to the public to undermine Trump, and leaking information to sabotage Trump actions and policies - as well as the above and the source of the annoymorous claim being the reliably Trump-Hating NYT and CNN - this is just a hyper-partisan MSM effort to create doubt about a Trump and US military accomplishment.

Iran accepting a cease fire is highly suggestive that they know enough to know their nuclear ambitions have been set back for years or decades, not a few weeks or months. The dog isn't barking, it's whining and whimpering.

This article quotes these unnamed sources as claiming that the strikes only temporarily damaged Iran’s nuclear ambitions. It’s all an effort to discredit President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Naturally, we shouldn’t expect anything less from CNN.

However, Israeli intelligence, which is much closer to the situation than any Washington “sources” who would run their mouths to CNN, says that, while the U.S. strike may not have totally obliterated Iran’s nuclear program, it set the Islamic Republic back “several years.”

Two words in that CNN report prove to be especially problematic: Natasha Bertrand. Does her name ring a bell? If it does, it’s probably because she was the reporter behind the claim that the New York Post report about Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation.

It’s not hard to imagine that since Bertrand was willing to push the Biden campaign’s propaganda to try to defeat Trump in 2020, she would be willing to do all she can to discredit Trump’s success in 2025. After all, if she proved untrustworthy once, why wouldn’t she show herself to be unreliable again?

Criminal Leak Investigation Launched Over Iran Nuclear Damage

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Speaking to reporters at the NATO Summit Wednesday Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth revealed a criminal leak investigation is underway after top secret intelligence was illegally shared to undermine U.S. military strikes on Iran's nuclear program.

Gauging from Trump Administration officials' responses, e.g. https://pjmedia.com/sarah-anderson/2025/06/25/ignore-the-fake-news-rubio-sets-the-record-straight-on-iran-russian-sanctions-n4941156 , it looks like there is an actual report from which some of its content was selectively leaked. Given the distances, depth of the explosions, and secrecy of the Mullahcracy, I'm guessing the preliminary assessment offered a range of possibilities, one extreme being what was leaked, and the other being the total obliteration of Iran's enrichment capability and stockpile of highly enriched uranium, without some sort of conclusion as to what was actually accomplished.

If my guess is somewhere near correct, the leaker(s), if identified, could be in very deep legal excrement. Iran having been at war with the US, even though largely ignored since Carter, may mean the leak is very close to the USC definition of treason.

Nine of Iran’s nuclear scientists were killed during the initial wave of attacks, the Israeli military said.

In addition to Iran's top nuclear-weapons-brains, Iran also lost in the Israeli attacks a good number of the technicians, chemists, and engineers necessary to set up, operate, and maintain the program's facilities. Between the penetrator bombs and the Tomahawk missiles from the USN SSBN(s) that hit above-ground facilities and sealed entrances to the underground facilities, it is very likely more facility operations people were killed or entombed in the US attack.

Back closer to the topic, the idea that Iran could rebuild huge facilities, replace and set up large networks of expensive and delicate instruments, and replace hundreds or thousands of essential people in just a few months is facially absurd.

One of the key elements in the USAF carrying out this attack was that Israel had created SAM-free ingress-egress corridors by wiping out numerous Iranian SAM systems. USAF planes had nothing fired at them their whole time in Iranian air space. Whether Iran's Russian-supplied and homebrew SAM systems could at all see, track, and target the B-2s and whatever F-22s and/or F-35s escorted them is another question, though Ukraine has depleted Russia's own SAM system inventory to a degree that Russia can't even replace their own losses. So Iran is going to be reduced to reorganizing the air defenses not wiped out, cannibalizing bits and pieces to salvage a few more systems, and maybe producing more of their less sophisticated, homebrew systems.
