18. Ha! I've got a sister like that.
We got into a heated argument prior to the 2004 elections about Mr. Wonderful and now? She not only never voted for *, but she's never voted Republic or even said anything nice about them.

It's not lying, they're delusional.

12. With those numbers Bush is clearly losing some of the idiots
A quick consideration of television programming suggests far more than 35% of the nation is composed of idiots

3. Are there really that many oil execs out there?
How is it possible that 30-35% of every poll is from the board of Halliburton? =)

4. There are a number of humans who, like my father,
would continue driving the wrong way down a one way street rather than admit they were wrong.
These people can attain high positions when their opposition break down into squabbling groups. Divide and conquer

10. They still control a vast propagands apparatus.
Fox news, AM radio, WSJ, Washington Times, NY Sun, NY Post, and many other outlets that are less overtly partisan. If people depend on these media for news, they live in an alternate universe where Bush is a god among men, petroleum is a clean, limitless resource, WMDs were found in an ice cream truck in Baghdad, and who knows what other nonsense.

14. You are forgetting where those numbers come from.
Lots of the polling is done by companies owned by parent corporations with an interest in boosting the GOP.

Tweaking the numbers a bit is certainly not out of the question.

Look at the primary polls - is there much doubt some numbers are being fudged
?

15. They must have skewed the numbers somewhere...
I don't know of a soul who can stand him. Did Billo, Coultergeist and Vader participate in said poll?

I see the meds are running out faster this month than some previous months.

Oh my.

George Bush's current approval ratings, in the last year of his presidency, are similar with those of Harry Truman in his last year of his presidency; almost the same down to the second decimal point.

This is only speculation, since polls weren't used then, but it appears George Bush's approval ratings are nearly the same as those of Woodrow Wilson and Andrew Jackson, in their own final year of their presidencies.

Well, one suspects there's something to my theory that George Bush historically resembles no past American presidents more so than.....Harry Truman, Woodrow Wilson, and Andrew Jackson.

And look at how history has since seen those.

I'm sure that by mid-century, the face of George Bush will be on our $20-bills.

Honest.

History works that way.

History will treat GW just fine.

It won't care about the silly economic cycles, except the recovery from 9/11.

It will definitely say we had the right man at the help on 9/11 and will probably debate the Iraq War -- but it will NOT be a slam dunk "what were we thinking?" like Vietnam.

On balance he will be seen as a pretty good President in the hardest of times.

If an idiot calls someone an idiot does the double negative law come into effect?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
