Trump Says He Could Be Arrested on Tuesday
« on: March 18, 2023, 01:23:31 PM »
Original Title: Trump Calls for 'Protest' to 'Take Our Country Back' If He's 'Arrested on Tuesday'

The price of poker just went up. How convenient for the Dems and Never-trumpers...

What's the difference between paying "hush money" versus reaching a "settlement" in the event of a civil court case or, more likely, a threatened civil court case? Simply because paying "hush money" is private versus a "settlement" is public? I confess, I don't get it. Stormy Daniels, by all accounts, is a whore. She gets paid for her sexual services. So what if Trump "hired" her? Even if he did, which he denies.

Quote
Former President Donald Trump shared new reaction Saturday morning in reaction to reports that the Manhattan district attorney may formally indict the 45th president for alleged "hush money" payments made to Stormy Daniels back in 2016.

As Leah reported on Friday afternoon, authorities in New York are preparing for a potential indictment of former President Donald Trump — as early as next week — in a move those on Trump's legal and campaign teams say would only help his 2024 bid to return to the White House.

In a two-post thread on Truth Social, Trump said (capitalization and spelling from original) that "OUR NATION IS NOW THIRD WORLD & DYING" and "THE AMERICAN DREAM IS DEAD!"

"THE RADICAL LEFT ANARCHISTS HAVE STOLLEN OUR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, AND WITH IT, THE HEART OF OUR OUR COUNTRY. AMERICAN PATRIOTS ARE BEING ARRESTED & HELD IN CAPTIVITY LIKE ANIMALS, WHILE CRIMINALS & LEFTIST THUGS ARE ALLOWED TO ROAM THE STREETS, KILLING & BURNING WITH NO RETRIBUTION," the 2024 presidential candidate noted.

"MILLIONS ARE FLOODING THROUGH OUR OPEN BOARDERS, MANY FROM PRISONS & MENTAL INSTITUTIONS," he added of the border crisis. "CRIME & INFLATION ARE DESTROYING OUR VERY WAY OF LIFE," Trump said of current economic instability and hardship before turning to the Manhattan DA's case against him.

"NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK," Trump said.

"PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!" Trump urged of his supporters.

Trump, who would reportedly be the first former president to face an indictment, will surrender to face the criminal charges in Manhattan if such an indictment is returned, Trump's lawyer Joseph Tacopina has said.

As Leah reported, Trump and his team maintain that the former president is "completely innocent" and characterized the case against him in Manhattan as a continuation of the politically motivated charges and investigations that Democrats have leveled at Trump since he defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

"From Russia, Russia, Russia, to the Mueller Hoax, to Impeachment Hoaxes 1 and 2, and even the Unlawful Mar-a-Lago Raid, Democrats have investigated and attacked President Trump since before he was elected – and they’ve failed every time," Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said.

"Now Democrats are at it again, pushing the 'Nuclear Button' and attacking a President because of a disgraced extortionist," Cheung added in reference to Stormy Daniels. "This is happening because President Trump is leading in the polls by a large margin against both Democrats and Republicans, and there’s never been anything so blatant in American political history."

This is a developing story and may be updated.

Trump needs an editor -- he clearly doesn't know how to spell.

I fully expect that this will go down for the same set of reasons that the Mar-a-Lago raid happened the way it did. The Leftist scumbags are grasping at whatever straws they think are within their reach to create the optics necessary to contest the shellacking they may receive should the benevolent gods of the Dominion Vote Counters of Plenty not be able to come to their aid in 2024.

They're negotiating, apparently. If the NY "officials" actually indict Trump (seems more than likely at this point), it's a state thing. NY will have to submit an extradition request to FL if Trump balks. If Trump doesn't balk and comes to NYC to address the indictment, chances are he flies back home to FL the same day after posting bond.

This apparently involves Trump's alleged payment to Stormy Daniels BEFORE HE WAS A CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. But the NY critters believe he paid said "hush money" out of his campaign funds rather than his own personal accounts.

OK, let's say that Trump banged Daniels. Who does that hurt? Melania, evidently, because he was married to her at the time. Just like Slick Willie, who got blow jobs from Monica in the Oval Orifice, his infidelity allegedly "hurt" Hillary, who, as it turns out, couldn't care less as they have/had a so-called "open" relationship. Lots of Dems and proglodytes didn't give a shit about Slick's lying to the American people back in 1998. Why is a president who lies to the American people about an infidelity so f'n important now?

Oh, wait. I forgot. We're talking about the Donald. Never mind.

Grand jury meeting for today abruptly canceled.

No explanation given, but the comments are funny.

Quote
It’s looking like another day of the reports of Donald Trump’s impending indictment being wrong. After Tuesday, the day Trump originally proclaimed he’d be arrested, passed without incident, The Daily Mail reported that Wednesday was when the dominos would start falling.

Now, that looks to have been wrong, or at the very least, the plans have changed suddenly. According to Fox News, the scheduled grand jury meeting on Wednesday has been abruptly canceled for uncertain reasons.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has “canceled” the grand jury meeting that was scheduled to take place Wednesday as part of the investigation into former President Trump, amid speculation of a possible indictment, two sources familiar told Fox News.

The grand jury was slated to meet Wednesday and was expected to hear from at least one additional witness, but Fox News has learned that Bragg’s office “canceled” the proceedings.

Another witness was supposed to testify so it’s interesting that Bragg’s office is the one who pulled the plug. Did something happen with the witness? Or does the DA’s office want to massage their case a bit more before making a final presentation to the grand jury?

Fox News claims via sources that there is dissension within the DA’s office on whether to move forward with the case, citing the weakness of the legal theory being proposed by prosecutors. That would make sense because it is indeed an incredibly weak play.

Still, I’d be skeptical that this is all collapsing in on itself. Bragg likely didn’t come this far just to close up shop at the first sign of trouble. Plus, if Trump ends up not getting indicted, it’s going to leave egg all over his face. It’s also going to hurt the credibility of the other cases being brought against the former president in various localities (and at the federal level), something that would no doubt leave left-wingers seething. Talk about a miscalculation if Bragg can’t even get an indictment in Manhattan.

For now, we continue to wait. Apparently, the grand jury is on “standby” to meet on Thursday. Will they or won’t they? The answer will be upon us soon enough.

He's so used to prosecuting hapless Spew Yukkers who can't match his office's budget for attornies, it's bound to be a shock to the poor fellow when he discovers that The Donald's counsellors are AT LEAST the equal of Bragg's deputy DAs...

Arama's afternoon writeup suggests that there's a lot of dissension in Bragg's office about the charges.

A grand jury does not look at the defense. It's strictly the prosecution and what they dream up say.

It would appear that Costello's testimony on Monday had an impact on the grand jury and the lawyers in Bragg's office.

Get out the  . This is already an f'n soap opera.

Memos from 2018-19 shake up Trump case: Cohen denied having incriminating evidence on hush money
https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/all-things-trump/wcohen-wanted-trump-pay-legal-bills-had-no-incriminating-evidence

Quote
An attorney who advised disgraced Trump organization lawyer Michael Cohen provided Manhattan prosecutors with voluminous documentation, including contemporaneous emails and memos, purporting to show that in 2018 Cohen wanted Donald Trump to help cover his legal bills and repeatedly claimed he had no evidence incriminating the former president in a hush money deal with porn actress Stormy Daniels.

"Cohen said he had no information against Trump," one memo summarizing attorney Robert Costello's interactions with Cohen stated. That memo, dated April 2019, recounted Costello's interview with federal prosecutors about conversations he and colleagues had with Cohen a year earlier.

Costello, a former federal prosecutor who has represented famous clients like George Steinbrenner, Leona Hemsley, Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon, told Just the News on Tuesday he provided Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office with more than 300 pages of emails, memos and texts chronicling his dealings with Cohen.

He said his documents showed Cohen took out a bank loan known as a HELOC — on his own — during the 2016 presidential election to pay Stormy Daniels $130,000 under a nondisclosure agreement so she would remain quiet about her alleged relationship with Trump. Cohen bragged he kept the situation quiet so that Melania Trump and Cohen's own wife wouldn't learn about it, Costello said in an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast, recounting what he said Cohen told him back in 2018.
