Kansas state Democrat Rep. Aaron Coleman was arrested over this past weekend on a charge of domestic battery.

The 21-year-old lawmaker has a history of alleged abusive behavior, including accusations by an ex-girlfriend that he slapped and choked her. His arrest Saturday night has renewed calls for his resignation.

The circumstances of Coleman's arrest remain unclear. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.

State House Majority Leader Tom Sawyer, a Wichita Democrat, called the arrest "extremely disturbing news."

Aaron Coleman has a history of bullying and now in trouble with domestic violence.

Kansas Dem arrested for DUI while out on bail for domestic violence charge

A 21-year-old progressive state lawmaker in Kansas has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence — just weeks after being bailed out for alleged domestic violence, according to officials.

Proud “Green New Deal Democrat” Aaron Coleman — who was elected last year despite admitting to having sent revenge porn — was arrested at 1 a.m. Saturday on a highway near Lawrence, court records show.

He was released just over 12 hours later on a $250 bond — even though he was already out on bail from an Oct. 30 domestic battery arrest.

In that case, the state representative allegedly pushed, hit and spat on his 18-year-old brother in a fight over the brother’s decision to get baptized, according to court documents.

He cannot stay out of trouble.  :mental:

sounds like a young teddy kennedy in the making.  Any woman who accepts an invitation to go for a drive with him had better know how to swim or wear a life jacket.

Kansas lawmaker agrees to counseling to avoid battery charge

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A 21-year-old Kansas legislator has agreed to undergo mental health counseling and a domestic violence assessment to avoid being prosecuted on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge over a fight with his younger brother.

Freshman Democratic Rep. Aaron Coleman, of Kansas City, also agreed in Johnson County to submit to drug or alcohol testing if officials ask him to do so. Coleman signed the diversion agreement with the district attorney’s office last week, and it was filed in district court Monday.

Talk about a trainwreck.  :mental:
