He has the option of referring questions to a vote by the Senate. If he's flooded with motions, I suspect he'll simply swat them over to the Senate and the Republicans will quickly dispose of them.

Some hopeless act of desperation is what he has in mind.  Their nominee is going to be Creepy Joe, Pocahontas, or the liver spotted old Red from Vermont.  Whoever it is, President Trump is going to schlong them worse than Hillary.  I'd feel hopeless too.

Brilliant, kt! Even the MSM wouldn't be able to make that look pretty. And then Roberts says, "Overruled!" Or "You are out of order!" Or "Adjourned!" And if he says the latter and there are no more hearings, what would the Dems have accomplished?

A year ago I would have said that the Dems are not stupid enough to try anything along the lines of kt's "brilliant" idea. The past 4 months have me wondering if they just might be that kind of stupid.

I do not see a possible end to this that does not damage the Dems. And Pelosi's 1 month delay made clear to anyone willing to recognize it that the Dems' supposed urgency was just fauxny shtick. Either at some point Trump will be retained by Senate vote or the Dems wangle to stretch this out for the whole year, demonstrating again that their hasty sham-poo-chment was a partisan farce and pulling antics that will be ugly to all but DU-grade Prog-voters. The least damaging thing would be to have the vote for-against Trump next week so that the Dems can campaign on less self-destructive talking points.

Sometimes I wonder whether Pelosi moved this whole farce forward in the hopes that the crazier Dem Reps would be voted out of office and the Dems' House caucus could start to rebuild with less crazy. Her slinging wacky accusations this week of McConnell-Russia Collusion has me thinking that she really is all-in on this and probably needs 72-hour involuntary commitment and testing for dementia. Not that I think that would happen or claim psycho-atric expertise.

The bottom line is this - this impeachment is a lost cause. And if the Democrats try to impeach him again, they are likely to lose the house.

-- It'll be painfully obvious that this is indeed a witch hunt, and many more will be turned off by it all.
