Quote
A New York man convicted of brutally murdering a 16-year-old girl in 1980 was released from prison Monday despite outrage from community members and criticism from the state's former governor.

Richard LaBarbera, 66, walked free 38 years after he began serving a sentence of 25 years to life for the second-degree murder of Paula Bohovesky.

No surprise in leftist New York.

Lots of murderers go free every day, even murderers of children. What so special about this guy?

They should all be executed. Case closed.

I don't disagree with that statement, however, it still doesn't answer my question. He was given 25 to life. If they wanted him to stay in prison for life why didn't they give him life without parole or make it clear upon his conviction that he never should be paroled?
