That was stunning yesterday. He's either too dumb or he suffered a break from reality in public.

I am shocked the airwaves aren't full of media and politicians alike today screaming that the President undergo some type of competency evaluation. Any other President and we would be hearing this.

THIS IS A NATIONAL CRISIS! The man in charge of our military has the mental capacity of a 3rd grader only he thinks he's the most informed person in the world. This was more than misspeaking after going off script. This was a break from reality or a demonstration of levels of idiocy never before seen in a world leader. How can the media not be going crazy with this today? What the heck is happening in our country?

After that total nonsense, tell me if there is anyone who doesn't think Trump could be talked into bombing Vermont because they're part of a foreign nation called New England who is trying to steal Betsy Ross's prized acorn bush? This is not OK, this is dangerous and no one seems to care.
Anyone know what this DUpipo is ranting about today?

I'm guessing Trump gave a good teleprompter-free speech and DU-Moron Johnny2X2X was traumatized by it. I think Progs' 25th Amendment shtick started in December, 2016, and they know it will work if they do it right. Just like socialism will work if they do it right.

It's a day that ends in a y, therefore DUmmies simply feel the desire to publicly display their unhinged hatred again.  Nothing new or special.

I'm not into listening to politicians' speeches, but this and a similar thread on CU moved me to do so. Trump's speech was all about the US - its people and its military people. Some noteworthy things:

* It was not off the cuff;

* There was no teleprompter, and I did not see Trump refer to notes;

* Except for a very few incidentals like inviting people on stage at the very end, the pronouns "I", "Me", "My", and "Mine" were utterly missing;

* Trump very obviously - whether memorized or following note I could not see - followed an outline, was quite coherent, and did not go on any rabbit trails.

Somebody, possibly RawStory has claimed Trump said that George Washington closed airports. This is false, unsurprisingly. Trump was speaking of the US Army - not George Washington - and was speaking of the range of actions the Army had taken, for its beginnings to recently. I suspect DU-Moron Johnny2X2X was alluding to RawStory's false claim, without having listened to any of Trump's ~1/2 hour speech.

yeah, a moonbat friend of mine- how he was ever an infantryman is beyond me, pisted this on facebook:

Trump praised the Americans’ military efforts in the war against Great Britain. “Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory,” he said.

What kind of half wit shit is this?

Trump's speech is embedded in this blog post. The sentence in question starts at about the 43:50 point. The word your "moonbat friend" quoted as "air" is not clear, but sounds more like "effort" to me. But even if the word was "air" Trump was shifting from the Revolutionary War to a more sweeping picture of the Army's history. And that history includes the Army Corps and to this day includes helicopter forces - "it did everything it had to do". Did you friend listen to the rest of the speech? Or just find that one sentence on some Hate-Trump Prog site?

Actually I think the line was supposed to be "we took over the PORTS."  The "air" part was just a slip of the tongue.

I’m sure this DUmmie was also calling for the magic one to be shut down after claiming he’d visited 57 states.
“Don’t vote for the person who tells you you deserve something. Just don’t do it if it’s something other than life, liberty, or the pursuit of possible happiness. If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

Thanks for the explanation. It's all over DU that he said George Washington shut down the airports.

I've been backing-and-forthing with a Prog on FB as well. Even got the Prog to basically admit simply having quoted from a WashPost article rather than actually having listened to the speech.

And that's what amazes me. It was a 47 minute long speech (I checked the time markers on the video in the link above), and Progs are all in a sweat over an 11 seconds long sentence. Let that sink in. They're all aquiver over 11 seconds out of a 47 minute speech.

Trump did not use a teleprompter.

If Trump used notes, it was imperceptible.

Trump singled out some 4-6 American people who had made contributions in various fields to this country.

Trump spoke one by one of the histories of the Coast Guard and each branch of the four armed services, including service by Coasties when they were brought into the Navy in WW2).

Not once did Trump speak of his own administration or himself.

Rather, his speech was about America's greatness in the past and present, and future greatness.

And the MSM and Progs want to strain out this 11 second sentence, as if that were the only significance in the entire 47 minute speech. Petty and pathetic.

What year is it?   During a trip to London’s Westminster Abbey, President Obama signed the guest book and dated it 24 May 2008.   Oops.   It was 2011.   (Maybe he was wistfully dreaming about his 2008 election campaign at the time.)

What language is that?   In April 2009, on one of his many foreign trips, President Obama mused, “I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for wheeling and dealing.  Oops, Mr. President".   There is no Austrian language.
Quote
Twister casualties:   After a devastating tornado hit Kansas, Obama discussed the tragedy without help from a teleprompter, saying, ”In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas.   Ten thousand people died-an entire town destroyed.”   He was only off by 9,988 as the twister killed 12 people.

Let's see if this posts with indents that indicate responses and responses to responses:

FBF: He is the dumbest President in history. (Meme picture)

Pete: I see you didn't actually listen to the speech. Because Trump said nothing about George Washington in relationship to any airport.

FBF: “Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over airports, it did everything it had to do,” Trump said in his remarks at the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday. “And at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, had nothing but victory. When dawn came, the star-spangled banner waved defiant.”

Pete:   1. As your own quote proves, Trump was speaking of the Army, not Washington. 2. Trump was changing context from the Revolution - he had just spoken of Yorktown, the last major battle - to a broad sweep of the US Army's actions. 3. In the video of the speech from Politico, the word your source quoted as "air" is muffled and sounds like "effort". That said, what is now the USAF was originally (and through WW2) the Army Air Corps, and to this day the US Army operates helicopters - it "manned the air ... it did everything it had to do". 4. Trumps speech was about half an hour long, and you're focused on one sentence. How much of the speech did you actually listen to? Any at all? Or are you just relying on a less than reliable source like RawStory?

FBF:      Pete no this was from the Washington Post this morning. All major news is quoting the same. Quit making excuses for the moron. He cant give a cohesive speech if his life depended on it. He is beyond stupid.

FBF:      Pete ______ and that is the last comment I am making today to you on this subject.

Pete:         So you have not actually listened to the speech. I'm not surprised. I have, and it was quite coherent. Had you actually listened to it - and the WashPost is not reliable, sadly - you would know this. You would also have noted that it was very carefully timed in coordination with multiple events within the speech. You would also have noted that Trump was focused, did not use a teleprompter, and may not have had notes (or referred to them infrequently and imperceptibly). You might even have noted that Trump almost never used first-person singular pronouns; he did not refer to himself or his administration.

Pete:         Actually it was 47 minutes long, my oops.

"FBF" is an acronym of "Face Book Friend", and is not even close the initials of the person. I simply copied-and-pasted the text of each post, so any typos, missing words, and malaprops are what they are in the conversation.

I'm a bit surprised ^that^ FB Friend hasn't UnFriended me yet. A couple of days ago she posted a Meme-Picture about "Trump's military parade". I kept point out the factual problems with that meme and calling out every time she tried to move the goalposts (and pointing out the factual problems with the new goalpost location).

President Trump was probably talking about Army accomplishments throughout our history, at worst he slipped up and said airports when what he meant to say was simply ports.  Small potatoes.

Creepy Joe is a gaffe machine that's been in operation for decades.

I seldom do OPs on FB about political stuff. I use it mostly for keeping in touch with friends and for running-related stuff. But I occasionally respond to really DUMB political posts when the fruit is hanging really low.
