There was once a popular child's toy.....
« on: May 28, 2019, 02:14:26 AM »
This was probably before my time, and I saw a picture of it in some history book, or it could've dated from my earliest childhood memories.

The thing was shaped, roughly, like a bowling-pin and painted, roughly, to resemble a human, or a clown, or something.

Every time one knocked it over, it came right back up; it wouldn't stay down.

Anybody have any idea?  Thanks!

Well, damn.

After drinking a cup of coffee in the middle of the night, like Saul on the road to Damascus, it came to me, and google images verified it.

"Weeble Wooble."

Sorry for the bother.

'Weebles wobble but they don't fall down.'  I remember that bit of the ad jingle from my childhood!

 :cheersmate:

I still think of weebles when the primitives start talking the Bolshie 'To the barricades!' gasbaggery.

“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

-- Marcus Tullius Cicero, 55 BC (106-43 BC)
