it was ReTHUGs who controlled the Executive and both Chambers of the legislature when they shut down the government days before Christmas. It was as if they did not intend to obey the Constitution and accept that Democrats won a majority in the House. Then they declared that there was an emergency and needed a wall which they could have approved for two ****ing years.

This is a power play . Do not bend an inch Speaker Pelosi. This is not about a wall, it is about the Constitution and Democracy.

When Obama LOST the Senate to the Republicans in 2014, he decided to defy the Constitution because he had "a pen and a phone." Guess he couldn't accept that Republicans won a majority. Was Malaise as upset about that? Wish I could ask her on DU, but--you know.

mal really is ignorant of or deceitful about US government:

* In Congress, the House and Senate are almost equals; the House has no say in ratifying treaties or approving Presidential nominees, including judges;

* The President and Congress are equals, neither being able to act without the other - the President cannot write laws, and the Congress cannot enforce laws.

So winning control of the House is a big deal, just nowhere near as big as mal is trying to hype it into being.

When Pelosi locked the Republicans out of debate on Obamacare it was a ‘master stroke’ ‘genius’ even.
