What it really means is journalism as a craft, discipline, profession with strong ethics and principles often plays second fiddle to the bottom line -- sensationalist headlines and articles sell.
The truth often does not sell.
It's unfair to use a broad brush to paint all of anything a certain color, but I well remember hearing in HS history classes about the practice of "yellow journalism" during the turn of the last century and I'm reminded that some things just don't change.
