I crunch reams of data to identify which races are really competitive. I'll spend upwards of $100,000 on the election, and I don't like to waste my money. When you give $30 to Alan Grayson's tilt at windmills, you're not giving that money to a candidate who can actually get elected (also, someone who wasn't involved in a politically distracting divorce with accusations of domestic abuse).
That is DFW level of bragging there. Just imagine the help he could give other DUers with $100,000 but instead he gives it to candidates.

Alan, Alan, Alan...how many times must we tell you, a few hundred 'k&r,' 'Preach it!,' and 'I love DU' posts does NOT make a credible mole, you have to get to several thousand and actually take some risks developing a persona (Once you are safely past about 1500, anyway) or nobody will pay any attention at all.  It does seem like a lot of work to go to just to cadge the odd ten-spot from the window-lickers, but desperate times call for desperate measures, I s'pose.
