My latest project
« on: August 18, 2008, 11:23:53 PM »
I finished this up last night and framed it tonight.

This is my standard wedding present for people I really like.  This is the 5th or 6th time I've made it.  Luckily I've found the same frame each time.  This couple lives in Arizona, so I'll try and get by a UPS store to mail it off on Wednesday.  :)

shouldn't need a flash to take an indoor picture. You did a good job of centering it on the subject though.  :naughty:

The Cross stitching  looks nice to.  :cheersmate:

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

That's gorgeous, Mia.  :)

You don't live here, there's pretty crappy lighting in the front hall, which is where I took the picture.

Thanks.  Alison was my best friend through all elementary and most of middle school.  We remained friends through high school, though just not as close.

I love it Mia! The frame and all of it! I'm so slow with cross stitching, I don't think I've ever finished anything. I'm in awe that you've made this a few times already.

That's a great gift, lovely work.  When I opened the thread all I saw was the frame and black border, I thought it might be a velvet Elvis print.  :-)

The first time I made it, it took forever!  This one I didn't work on every day, otherwise, it would really only take probably a week.  I guess, I already know the pattern so well, that it just doesn't take as long anymore.

I really like this pattern for a wedding gift.  It's not too religious and it's not too "girly".  I made it for my best friend's brother when he got married, and he's Hindu.  Him and his wife loved it.

The hardest cross-stitch I did was a Precious Moments Noah's Ark.  I was originally going to give it to someone, but it took so long to make and was so difficult that I kept it.  LOL!  It's not framed or anything.  When I get home tonight, I'll hunt it down and take pics of it.

Yes, it would go nice next to my antique clock with scantily clad ladies on it.   :-)

Great job Mia! And what a treasured gift for someone.

I used to do counted cross stitch when my kids were little.....I know how much work you've put into it!

How do you find the time?

Do you ever do needlepoint? I like doing it better, though I haven't done it in years either.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Very nice job Mia.

The clock was actually my great-grandfathers.  He passed it on to my dad.  My dad told me that when he was young that he saw his grandmother trying to scrape the women off of it.  LOL  It was in our house when I was growing up.  My mom hated the thing, I love it.

I should take some pics of it tonight.  On the outside, there are three women, all wearing dresses and hats, etc.  Then when you open it, the women are wearing lingerie.  I'm going to hang it in my front hall one of these days.  And on a console table I want to get, I'll have the leg lamp too.   :-)

You know somebody named "Hien"??

No, I know Alison.  I've never met Hien, but they've been together for many many years now.  I've seen pictures of Hien and of the two of them together.

I found a "stitching postcard".  They have them for Europe and the US.

Wow Mia, that is beautiful.

Thanks!  I went over to our parts dept to get a box for it.  I love my parts guys.  Three of them started digging through the pile and wrapped it up in bubble wrap and taped it all up for me.  :)

Now, I just gotta get to the post office one day this week.
