Why are some high profile news organizations hiding behind a firewall?
Do they need money more badly than National Interest? What about our country that gave you the freedom to do what you do?
Has DU-Fool "icymist" never
bought a newspaper or news magazine?
Never
paid to subscribe to a newspaper or news magazine?
I don't do paywall subscriptions. There are more than enough good news sources that support themselves with just ads.
The Internet disrupted both the MSM's information oligopoly and newspapers' and magazines'
subscriptions-plus-ads business model. Paywalls are attempts to turn back that business model clock, and I don't think it will succeed. What I think will replace the bloated national papers, magazines, and audio/video news divisions is local papers and affiliate stations networked together by the national networks and news aggregators like Drudge or PJMedia's Instapundit.
